The Next Ten Years

by Harpers So Solid Crew » 27 Dec 2009 08:02

For those that forget, from the 28th Dec 1999

LEAGUE
READING 0 NOTTS COUNTY 0 Attendance: 7,703
Scorers: - Date: 28 December 1999
Team: Howie, Gurney, Primus, Polston, Potter, Smith, Parkinson, Caskey, Evers (Brayson), Scott, Williams (Sarr).

Match Hero: Caskey

The match report states we are not relegated yet, and guys that would have been to Div 3/4.

We brought on Sarr and Brayson to add attacking qualities.

THAT is how far we have come in the last ten years, looking at the promising youngsters in this squad we have a damned sight better opportunity to move forward now.

The future is bright etc etc.

Indeed, I was thinking of starting a similar thread on how differently do you view Reading going into 2010 then you did in 2000 :D

In 1999 we had recently had a brief flirtation with the top division, before falling to where we had been then moving ahead again, the days of D4 seem an age away now, no real reason to think we cannot return to the Prem in the next decade at some point, with or without JM at the helm.
