£300 for £5 if you're clever / delphic

by STAR Liaison » 22 Aug 2016 15:26

Apologies for the crass, marketing-led thread title but nevertheless...

Each year STAR runs a Predictor competition which takes 2 minutes (if you're casual) to enter and is based on the aggregate number of league points accumulated by your 17 choices out of the 92.

The beauty of it this year is that the prizes are £300 (1st), £150 (2nd) and £75 (3rd) and you don't even have to be a member of STAR to enter! All you need to do is go the STAR website, download the entry form, fill it in and get it to us with a fiver by 1st September. You don't even have to be clever or Delphic either - jammy will do.

If you are a member of STAR you don't even have to pay the fiver to enter - you're entitled to one free entry. Though, of course it costs you £10 (£5 concessions) to join STAR but there are other benefits too.

Hey!
Would you mind sharing the results of the competition? I didn't enter the competition myself but I'm curious and I'd like to see who won. I couldn't find anything online.

This is such a weird first post I ought to give you the traditional newbie greeting but I'd probably lose my "job".

The competition will conclude in mid-May 2017 so I suggest you make a diary note to look online for the results soon after that.

What's the best prize you've ever won, Alex?

Can I call you Alex?

Is it possible to have the predictions of the top 5 sent to me? I am currently one of them and would like to compare and run my own table so I don't have to wait for the monthly updates. :D

Pepe the Horseman Good luck m8. We're all rooting for you.

Thought i'd update you I've fallen down the table slightly but it's incredibly tight at the top so still in with a chance. Here's hoping I have a better March.

If my calculations are right, think I have 1197 points;

Premier League (284)
Championship (314)
League One (304)
League 2 (295)

I think I am 1191
Premier league: 284
Championship: 312
League one: 304
League two: 291

Does that mean we have the same teams in prem and league one?

Great News - there's just still time to get your entries in for the 2017-18 STAR Predictor competition - whether you're a STAR Member or not.

The entry form is downloadable from our website at http://www.star-reading.org . Members get one free entry and can buy one more for £5. Non-members can enter at the cost of £5 (one entry only). Final deadline is 2.40pm on Sat 9th Sept to hand in your entry at STAR Base - or for the non-match goers among you - it can be done online by Fri 8th Sept.

More Great News - there's not been that many entries so your chances of joining LWJ on the winners' honours board are enhanced! And to balance that out we have, er, reduced the first prize to £150 this year so don't believe this thread title.

2nd prize £75, 3rd prize £50 and there was an early bird prize but that's flown already.
