What else are you expecting from 'The Family Club of the Year' whose mantra is 'For every thug we lose we gain a family of four'?

When we're back in midtable in the third tier in front of 6,000 on a cold Tuesday vs Oldham you won't see many 'happy families' in attendance I suspect.

Tbh, the most offensive thing about this is the money and paper wasted on such a naff gimmick.

I am utterly embarrassed by this stunt. Absolutely shocking!

Basically saying atmosphere is a shocker.

Lots of home games are a genuinely poor atmosphere for the home team, we do not need song sheets. Each time I say it I can't believe it!

Is it April 1st........??

I suspect this is for the "new" supporters who have suddenly decided to buy a season ticket/attend a game because we're in the Prem.

Spontaneity is what fans do best. Why don't the powers at be at RFC concentrate on things more football related, instead of trying to tell US the fans what to bloody sing.

Thought i'd add this here from the Robbie Savage thread:

He made a good point tonight. The Madejski Stadium is too nice a place to come. The fans aren't very boisterious, the scenery is nice, nice pitch etc.. Big clubs will come here and feel very comfortable.

But you try and sing and make things a bit more unwelcoming for the opposition fans and players, and the stewards get into over-drive.

So what can we do?

I think we need to make the madejski an awful place to come. Can we just agree to not put deodrant on for the 2 days prior to kick off so we stink the place out. Then wet ourselves at half time to really reinforce the smell. Perhaps a bit of inbreeding to make some monsters to scare the opposition. Then smere poo on the walls to make it look really sh/t, if you pardon the pun.

I think we should just get rid of the away dressing room, and make them change in the tunnel.

The club's marketing department is so out of touch they think a Lady Gaga song would make it to a football chant! Come back Boyd Butler, all is forgiven.

Get real who ever put this "Song Sheet" idea together.

A performance on the pitch by Reading playing well will get the fans going to generate an atmostphere, not song sheets!!

I can't make this Sat as away on a stag. Probably a good thing because I'm not sure what I might do / say to a grown man I see handing out song sheets to fans.

Reading FC you really are an embarrassment some times. Glad I haven't got a season ticket for this sh1t. Will stick to away games.

Because spontaneity is what clubs hate - because it's seen as dangerous and something they can't control.

And it is all about control - very subtle, almost subliminal control, admittedly, but still control. It's the same mindset that thinks "We can't have teams celebrating a goal they way they want to, spontaneously, because who knows what might happen. We'll play some music so they can pump their arms in rhythm and celebrate it our way ...." Just about everything in today's marketing-obsessed world of football works on the same or similar principles.
