FSF Annual Conference – July 9th

by Svlad Cjelli » 30 Jun 2011 10:56

For anyone not going to the friendly at Eastleigh, may I recommend the FSF’s Fans’ Parliament at Imperial College, London, on Saturday July 9th?

There will be keynote sessions from Andrew Jennings (journo who has exposed FIFA corruption countless times and is the world expert on FIFA) and Mark Bradley (consultant to numerous PL & FL clubs on customer service and supporter relations).

There will also be breakout sessions, featuring subject-matter experts, on the below subjects :

- Club ownership & Governance
- Policing & Stewarding issues
- Safe-Standing (including the presentation of the FSF’s Safe-standing Roadshow, so that people can experience rail seats for real and understand what this campaign is actually about)
- TV Contracts & scheduling

I can also particularly recommend a presentation from one of the PGMOL Referee Managers – who will discuss how referees’ performance is measured and managed, demonstrating how ProZone is used for this. I've seen this presentation in the past and it's superb!

The whole day is free, and includes lunch and refreshments, but you do need to register. See more information and register here : http://www.fsf.org.uk/news/REGISTER-TODAY-Fans-Parliament-2011.php

There’s also an evening comedy/awards event in the evening, featuring The award ceremony will run alongside the FSF Comedy Panel Show featuring Barry Glendenning (The Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast), John Sitton (volatile manager), Kenny Sansom & Kevin Day (MotD2). Again, this is free but you need to pre-register. More details here : http://www.fsf.org.uk/news/The-FSF-Comedy-Panel-Show-Writers-Awards-in-association-with-Cult-Zeros.php

Shall be in attendance for this (but not the evening part). Particularly looking forward to hearing from Andrew Jennings after so much going on at FIFA recently.

Thought I'd go to this considering how local it is to me.

Break out sessions for club ownership & refereeing.

I think the referring session will be brilliant. I saw a similar one a few years ago and the two mistakes they chose to analyse via ProZone were Robbie Keane encroaching on Kitson's penalty at Spurs, and the return game later that season when an early Spurs goal was wrongly disallowed for offside.

Well enough from where I was sitting, but I may not be best placed to comment on it.

One Royal organising it, one acting as an expert speaker, and at least three amongst the delegates.

Learned some interesting things in regards to your rights with the law.

Basically the things the law get away with because it's football compared to many other situations is ridiculous!

Refereeing session was a great insight (although the video they showed of players comitting fouls and haranguing the officials showed far too many Reading players for my liking). The offside training video was an eye-opener as to how hard it is for a start.
