Safe Standing with new owners?

by LoyalRoyalFan » 24 Jan 2012 19:47

With Villa recently proposing to open a safe standing area in Villa Park by 2013, is there a chance our new owners could follow suit?

dare i say it, but this is something we need star to put to the club.

plans are back in mind for the stadium expansion to 38,000 (after a promotion i assume), so what better time to give it a mention.

It will soon be compulsory to stand and clap for 90 minutes.

The best thing about the new owners is that every deb8 that's happened on here before can be revisited, with the suffix "with the new owners"

It's a clean sl8.

Russian grounds are all-seater, but they stand anyway.

If we are going to go down the "Zenit" model of his favourite Russian team, then the gangway behind the back row of seats will be used as standing room when the ground is full. It's how they average 22,000 in a ground that holds 21,000.

Plus, get rid of the poxy roof mounted floodlights we have and install some of these babies...

If this guy wanted a Russian club I suspect he'd have bought one.

why not? the stadium is big enough for you to take a seat along with the quiet folk elsewhere. hell, bring a thermos flask and you'll fit right in.

those of us that want to stand again for 90 minutes will be able to do so. everyone's a winner.

How would you answer critics that argue it would take away from our status as family club of the year Friday's Legacy :?:

Of primary concern would be the foul and abusive language that often emanates from terracing.

the whole stadium wouldn't be made safe standing, i would envisage two stands, possibly three (west stand remaining family/thermos fans stands. it wouldn't have any impact on our status as a family club.

i disagree. the seats have to remain in place, barriers added in front. we have the leg room whereas many others don't, so we are prepared for it as luck would have it. but a seat is a seat, they wont be made smaller to allow for more people per stand.

if we could somehow squeeze more in then i would expect every club to now start pushing for this, as it's an easy stadium expansion for all if you are right.

I believe the argument that gets put across is that it does actually increase capacity.

In fact Villa have said they'd do it to increase capacity and bring in some cheaper tickets to keep revenue the same, making it easier for more lower income people to return to live footie. IIRC of course.
