They should reply to emails - email customer services and ask them to pass it on - Customer Services are very quick at responding.

The main switchboard number is +44 1189661100.

They'll be able to tell you - or maybe even put you through (I know they don't for UK callers, though...)

Hey okanaganroyal, whereabout in the Okanagan are you from?

I've driven through it from Van City to Calgary via Kelowna.

Stick the UK country code on the front as you would for any call to the UK and it works fine

Thanks for all the replies we live in Summerland between Kelowna and Penticton
I have been an avid Reading Fan since the days of Robin Friday (have a price of his match day shirt from when we went up from the old 4th division),Steve Death and co picked the wrong season to emigrate to Canada though last time we got promoted to the Premiership my last game then was West Ham at home when we got promoted, came back last year st of the plane and saw the Leeds away game Coventry and a few others.
My Father in law has been good enough to get me and my two sons tickets for West Ham and Swansea will go to Manchester City away Spurs and 1st round FA cup if we can get tickets. :D

The 0844 number doesn't work outside the UK. If you ring the main switchboard and ask if they can put you through, they apologise as they can't transfer you into the TO phone system.

This means you have to use the internet.

Utterly. Bloody. Stupid.

Some 0844 numbers do and some don't work from abroad - I guess it depends on which telecoms provider is managing the number in the UK and how their systems are connected.

If you have a Skype account with a bit of credit you could try a Skypeout call which will should be equivalent to calling within the UK rather than coming in over the normal telephone network so that might work.

The trouble is that since the 0844 number is itself a profit centre (and costs us more to call as a result) if switchboard did put people through then everyone would do it.

I had a problem with the 0844 number a few weeks ago when after the "Press 1 for Reading Football Club" some kind of error occurred and a synthesised voice with an American accent said something about the number being unreachable (this was after getting through on the original call) and although switchboard wouldn't put me through but did say they would let them know there might be a problem.

saynoto0870.com does list a number but it goes through to some random's voicemail.

I'm pretty sure it is possible to set up a normal geographic number that can only be accessed from outside the UK. Other organisations that rip their customers off with 0844, 0845 or 0870 numbers seem to provide them and I think I once tried to use the alternative geographic number from within the UK and got a recorded message saying it could only be used from outside the UK.

However, the club have probably decided that it is not worth the trouble setting one up.

An alternative approach might be to try ringing the main number and then asking to be put through to customer services. That would make them (more) aware of the problems overseas supporters face and I suspect they might get someone from the ticket office to call you back.
