Platypuss
Big Foot
ZacNaloen But Anton has no money and we are broke and he's going to sell up?

The area around Hogwood is currently being sold off for property development. Far be it from me to suggest that AZ has had the proverbial £££ rolling in his eyes and considered that he could sell off Hogwood to the property developers and then buy elsewhere, without actually investing any new net capital himself?

I seem to recall that Hogwood has always been owned directly by JM and RFC pay rent on it, so wouldn't have formed part of the original deal. CBRT.

Is that correct? It certainly was my understanding that the club (or SJM) owned Hogwood but it has been suggested to me that it actually belongs to Wokingham BC and RFC have been given til 2015 to vacate.

No - just checked and found this EP article from 2003 that confirms that the club (or SJM) bought the site from the MoD.

Can anyone explain to me why a training ground needs 15 pitches?

Manchester United "only" have 14 at Carrington.

I'm not sure about that? The land was sold by REME Arborfield and I don't recall anything about WBC buying it and then leasing it to us, I always thought we bought it from the MOD. I also thought the training ground was part of the take-over. The only thing that wasn't was the hotel, and that is SJM's and currently for sale.

*Apologies, it seems Brook has nailed it with a link. Top man!

I would assume we're going for 15 just to be one up on ManU. Seems reasonable....

Might have something to do with United not having any women's teams. OR United having more local options for reserve team games to be hosted at other teams' grounds. OR maybe it's nothing to do with either of these true but probably irrelevant reasons!

starliason on the original TSI thread RFC didn't buy Hogwood, SJM did and charges a rent for it according to the accounts.

I too have heard of a new training ground as part of the growth of the Academy - I didn't ask if it just them or the first team too

Ive got a tree on Bearwood Golf Course. I say mine, planted myself over 30 years ago and gave it to the golf course when it got too big. Nice Conker tree. They better not chop that down.

There are also loads of trees planted in memory of people who have died which i guess will now be chopped down? Charming.

I think im going to have to crusify myself to the tree dressed in the gold Simod away kit.

Given that you can't be certain 'your' tree is threatened and you are relying on supposition only, it might be best to wait before you make a mess of that very special Wembley-winning shirt.

You can relocate trees, but it's dear. If they're protected they may have to, little memorial ones they will probably weigh up if it's worth upsetting people, which it will be.

There aren't any goalposts either but I bet they have a plan to sort that out !
It does slope in places but hopefully they will get a full structural survey before they go ahead so that should pick it up.
Good times for ground works contractors in the Sindlesham area

No. That's why nothing ever gets built on hills, ever.

Always used to. Think I've heard of them playing at Moss Lane, Altrincham before too. Their website says they are playing at Salford City Stadium this season. Less need for training ground pitches in that case I guess.
