Reading v Rotherham - 23rd February - The Fans Initiative

‘The Fans Initiative’ - your biggest match of the season!

It’s all about Tuesday nights under the lights…

We’re delighted to announce that our midweek home fixture with Rotherham United in four weeks’ time is being dubbed ‘TFI Tuesday’, as we look to you to make a memorable matchday of a Tuesday night fixture at Madejski Stadium!

Let’s be honest, when the fixture computer crunched its numbers and churned out a 46-game schedule for each of the 24 teams in the Sky Bet Championship back in June, a midweek meeting between the Royals and Rotherham was probably not one that either set of supporters earmarked early as a ‘must see’.

But we want to make something of this Tuesday night. ‘The Fans Initiative’ is our opportunity to showcase what kind of impact the Royals faithful can have when we rally together in our numbers for a midweek match at the Madejski.

Tuesday nights this season have seen us match Everton almost all the way in the Capital One Cup, hold high-flying Derby away and score five past Huddersfield in an FA Cup replay earlier this month. And the mighty Millers are in town on Tuesday 23rd February, 8pm kick-off – and to make this match a memorable one, we need your help!

We’re offering loads of ticket incentives for our meeting with United next month – including some added bonuses for Season Ticket holders – and we want our fans to get behind this new initiative for this one-off game!

• We're offering unbelievable ticket prices for this one-off fixture in an attempt to get the Madejski rocking for a night under the lights – standard match ticket prices for this game will be just £10 for adults and £5 for concessions (24 & Under, 65 & Over)!

• Season Ticket holders can bring two friends to the fixture… for FREE! So make sure you take up your option on two extra seats and give the gift of some midweek football free of charge!

• And any supporters who has bought a four-match ticket bundle this season can come to this game as an extra for FREE! It doesn’t matter if you’ve been to all four of the games in that bundle, you can still come along and watch our clash with Rotherham free of charge!

And as well as some super savings on the price of entry, we will also have a lot of matchday activity around Madejski Stadium… keep your ears to the ground in the coming weeks as we announce what’s going on around the game as well!

Great idea from the club this.

Who would have thought Rotherham at home would be the only sell out of the season?

Nice. I'll bring a couple of m7s.

Did they really have to call them the "Mighty Millers" though?

Was going to buy another 4 game bundle and use one for the Rotherham game anyway but I'll be getting that one free. Good move all round.

We could win all our games between now and then and we still wouldn't get more than 18k in.

Well done on the predictable dumb response.
Is it better for the club to make the effort to bring extra people in or should they just follow the example of the fans and simply go for the most negative option possible ?
It seems a decent initiative, hope it works, I shan't be going.

Not even £10 per ticket will attract me to a game against the Mighty Millers.

Enjoy.

After a 1-2 defeat in the cold of a Tuesday night it will seem quite appropriate.

There's is exactly nothing wrong with this plan from the club, so it's quite obvious that people on here aren't happy about it, fvcking idiots

In. Well done the club. Good initiative as they'll probably make more money this way than selling full price tickets. Not a cracking fixture but I'll be there with +2. Looking forward to a Matt Derbyshire 90+1 minute winner as I knock my pint over storming out.
