16/17 Sky TV/Fixture moved thread

by RG30 » 05 Jul 2016 19:11

Sky Sports have confirmed the process by which they will be selecting English Football League matches for broadcast over the coming season.

Firstly, the TV 'slots' for this season are confirmed as follows:
• Weekday selections – all 7.45pm kick offs (Mondays and Thursdays still possible)
• Saturday – 5.30pm
• Sunday – 12.00 noon (with some at 11/11.30am)

There will be a minimum five-week selection notice for League matches and if the two clubs agree and in certain circumstances, the five-week notice period can be waived.

The selection process will take place as follows:
• Selections for August/September – will be made by 8 July
• Selections for October – 12 November – will be made by 5 August
• Selections for 19 November – mid-January – will be made by 30 September
• Selections for remainder of January – will be made by 30 October
• Selections for February – will be made by 30 November
• Selections for first week in March – will be made on 9 January.
• Later selections tbc

Two matches already moved for non TV reasons.

Fulham (H) now Friday, 30th December 2016 8pm kick-off
Sheff Wed (A) now Friday, 17th March 2017 7:45pm kick-off

Suspect they'll amend the process this year. 1 will include Newcastle.

1. Because they thought a NYE game was a bad idea.
2. Sheff Utd are at home on the Saturday.

I'm sure that there is a bit of skewed logic as to why a Championship game is acquiescing to Div 1 one?

And Villa. Suspect that we'll get to see nearly all the league games of those 3 so suggest looking to see when we play them and preparing for a change in kick off time.

It's getting more like the PL every season....

Less police costs for a League One game.

Come on mate, wake up.

Surely the question to be asked is how come the stupid fixture system managed to get both Sheffield teams at home on the same day.

I doubt you'd be going to the game regardless of what day it was on mate so stop being a grumpy old sod.
