Nameless Bath City shouldn't be a new ground for hard core Reading fans. IIRC Bristol Rovers played there briefly when they left Twerton park and we had a cup replay there....
IF I recall rightly it's more Palmer Park than Elm Park though !

The Informant should be able to contribute here in that case. I'll wait for his review.

Funny how a couple of comments from myself and Tommio have completely fcuked with your head

I hope PW plays as an attacking LB on this tour.

Nothing's done anything with my head, I'd be more concerned for your head stuck so far in the sand. Are you an ostrich?

Still living off the one line from a couple of years back?

Anyway, this is a thread to discuss the up coming tour. Please don't ruin it.

I am looking forward to the fixture release so that I can book my flights now.

Good how they can release fixtures for August but can't even organise a weekend in Amsterdam for the month before.

Why doesn't Jaap just book up the Bulldog Hotel and be done with it?

How bloody long does this take to organise?

Literally gives fans no notice at all.

Becoming a joke now

Friendlies are about warming the team up as well and testing tactics, combinations and determining what our strongest side is. If we don't play any friendlies how are we supposed to:

A) know our best side
B) find out which areas need strengthening
C) experiment on formations and tactic
D) warm players up and get them in mind for the league

We will start the season off very slowly if we don't arrange any friendlies and we need to try and get off to a good start to avoid playing catch up.

All the same this pre-season must go down as a bit of a farce. It's the last week of June and not one pre-season friendly has so far been confirmed by Reading FC.

All we know for sure is the main squad disappear to Holland for 10 days between 12 and 22 July (and are rumoured to have 2 games lined up there) plus Wealdstone have posted on their site that there is a friendly with Reading on 22 July (which therefore must be with the youngsters - if we have any left by then given the rate they're leaving).

Maybe some of us want a knees up in Holland? Not every day Reading get to play in Europe, friendly or no friendly. If we get any Eredivisie teams, I'm there!

Of course we are going to play friendlies.

Stop being so over dramatic.

Just to confuse things, we are playing a Dutch side for a preseason friendly, but not in Holland

http://rdng.co/RFCvsVitesse

Although maybe we'll be playing them over there as well?

Edit: - from link:

this match will be the Royals’ only first team pre-season friendly played on home soil in front of our supporters this summer; our 2016-17 campaign ended more than three weeks later than most other teams and a number of our players have been (or indeed still are) competing internationally with their countries - so the initial priority will be raising our players’ fitness levels and a focus on the team’s tactical work on the training pitches in the first 12 days back

That's fair enough I guess, thought it might be because of the play-offs extended our season.
