Football finance: Championship club-by-club

Interesting read. Can see why we’re not able to go crazy on transfer dealings this summer.

Wage-to-turnover ratio: 119 per cent.

Interesting that our turnover compares to clubs who we might think are way bigger than us....
While the wage/ turnover ratio seems a lot it's by no means the worst in the division, looks kind of upper mid table but how much of that is down to there still being players on Premiership wages I don't know. Suspect it's probably lower in the latest accounts although the rate we are pushing new long term deals out must mean we are handing over some decent pay packets to key players.
Overall the thing I take from the numbers is that if you have a wealthy backer behind you none of them matter as long as they keep backing you.....

it is interesting, but these are all from 12 months ago aren't they?

Would of course be more interesting to see how last year went, presuming quite a few of the higher wage earners were off the books - i.e. superstars like Vydra, HRK, Ferdinand, PIazon and John.

Doubt the guys we brought in last year were on comparible wage

Isn't this just a reflection of who fiddled the books better or perhaps who fiddled the books which way?
