This was fantastic.

And also horrific. I knew they were bad. But paying no tax. And demanding hosts change their laws. And setting up courts to convict and sentence people who's crimes relate to the competition. I really hope that's made up - it's incomprehensible, but I kinda feel a sinking feeling that maybe it's actually true.

It's true. In South Africa FIFA set up 56 courts with a staff of 1500. Basically jobs for judges and lawyers.

Very few cases were actually heard. The average cost of each case was around £150,000.

One case concerned the Dutch women who wore orange dresses and were charged with "ambush marketing".

Personally I think that there will be a growing movement in the coming Years for the major European countries to boycott Qatar; a combination of League's and clubs not wanting the 2 seasons of disruption that a Winter tournament will entail, National FA's in Europe fed up with the ever growing lunacy that is FIFA, and fans not prepared to support this tournament.

I see Sepp is once again ignoring everyone and standing for re-election. And to complete the comedy no-one will challenge him and so he'll get back in even if no-one votes.

Surely someone will go up against him?

UEFA can't just let him spout off and then not put someone up as an alternative. I know it might just result in an embarssing defeat as the Turkeys won't vote for Christmas, but if they want to at least address the issues they have to make a stand at some point don't they?

Read an article about the last guy to go up against him, and they changed the rules thereafter.

Any clues as to why or what was changed?

I've no idea* how he's managed to stay in the role all this time without the world tumbling down around him.

* well, I guess I do really, £££££.

Ian Royal And demanding hosts change their laws.

I'd be pleased enough if we ever got a world cup but if FIFA made it so we could get rid of the ridiculous law about not drinking in stadia I'd be over the fvcking moon

I don't get what negative reaction from Blatter and FIFA they could dish out? All they do is organise world cups and I doubt Somalia is going to win one.

I'm sure that FIFA and Blatter could get very inventive in terms of punishments. You're looking at a multi billion dollar organised crime operation (see Andrew Jennings' research) and a highly corrupt country. Neither plays by official rules.

In terms of FIFA politics I think it's quite a significant step. He's not going to come out with anything too controversial and certainly not right now, but I think it's the first public hint of defiance and the potential for someone to stand against Blatter.

There's a lot of political gaming that will go on and so he can't come out all guns blazing and lose a shed load of votes straight from the off.

99 % sure that millions if not billions go from FIFA to poorer countries.
