Pretty happy with that, no surprise omissions or inclusions.

It's disappointing to see Wellbeck there, do a  , then struggle to think of someone better that should be there instead

As above, pretty happy with the squad. Are we not heavy on defenders though?
You've got Maguire, Stones, Jones and Cahill as centre-backs, and Walker who can play there. Then you have Walker, Trippier and Alexander-Arnold who can play right-back, and Rose, Young and Delph. Surely we could have lost a wing-back (Delph) for another midfielder?

Sturridge would be the obvious selection - but then he's always injured

Wouldn't be surprised if Delph is included as much as a midfielder as full/wing back. Likewise Ashley Young doubles up further forward as well.

Hmm... out of that lot, I'd probably go

Pickford
Walker Maguire* Cahill* Rose
Dier Henderson
Rashford Alli Sterling
Kane

I guess.

*Struggled with CB tbh. Think we are really short of quality there.

Defence is definitely the weakest area but I don't think there's anyone else he could have added to improve it

No, I agree. Don't think we've got anywhere near enough quality to really do much in the World Cup, QF would be a decent result.

We've got good fullbacks, and a potentially excellent front three, but GK, CB and CM leave a lot to be desired... sometimes that happens in a generation of players, though.

I think that's a very reasonable selection from Southgate, a lot of those players have had very successful seasons and im not sure id have made any changes to the squad

Really can't see how you can leave Lallana out. Even though he is returning from injury he is a quality player and can unlock a defence. We have a real lack of creativity in that squad.

Refreshing squad. Two wins and a point against perennial underachievers Belgium will see us out of the group with ease.

Whilst admittedly on paper the defence isn't going to trouble many opposition managers, this is a team that has conceded just one goal from open play in eight games since we lost 3-2 in France this time last year.
