Pleased to see a new country get the trophy, shame Ronaldo will feel it was all due to him though.

Glad I was in France for the semi final partying and not there tonight.

6ft Kerplunk Pepe throwing up in HD sums up the final nicely.

Was immense tonight despite the throwing up.

Youd've thought that Portugal had gone down to 10 men if you were listening to the tv pundits spouting their sh1t since Ronaldo has gone off.

I said exactly the same thing...lol x

My friend Felippe will be happy but I'm not sure the 5th best team in the tournament deserved to win it.

The commentator was banging on about Messi for a while in the same breath as Ronaldo

Gr8 to see Portugal win it tbf. After being told by the media in the semi's "We're all behind Wales now" - Well you don't speak for me. Much prefer Portugal to win it, even before that video was leaked of the Welsh celebrations when Iceland beat England.

Lets be honest though it's been a shit tournament. When a team who finished 3rd in their group, not winning a game and only won once in 90 minutes end up winning the whole thing....says it all really.

Too much negative football played by everyone - i can't really remember a truly "great" game this competition....

Yep, pretty much 'greed.

There ought to be a new rule, something like in rugby league - no more than 5 passes in your own half otherwise possession is ceded to the opposition.

Bit difficult to know what to do given the straight knockout games were quite poor. Perhaps they should scrap ET and penalties and award drawn games based on the amount of possession as team has in their opponents half or last third. That way sitting back with 10 players behind the ball gets discouraged.

But then you could argue that being able to defend is as much part of the game as attacking so why penalise that further when FIFA have already ruined the art of defending so much.

Great games of football are pretty much a thing of the past.

The game is too dominated by money, tactics and a fear of losing.

Scrap ET - go straight to pens but the team with more shots on target gets 5 pens and the other team 4.....if equal then 5 each

Agreed about the Portugal game which TBM may not have seen as it was on in the afternoon.
I watched the game in Portugal on holiday and you can imagine the excitement as the game went from end to end with the score also fluctuating until the draw was about the right result.
I also thought the Italy v Spain game was worth watching with Italy showing how a team should defend, something that just doesn't happen in our overhyped Premier League.

Whereas the refereeing was good the commentaries, co-commentators, presenters and most of the pundits IMHO were dull and boring and incredibly biased.
The best of the pundits were all foreign and generally spoke better English than our chaps.

Dogshit tournament, too many big names going awol, not enough goals, very few matches that will live long in the memory.

Underdog narrative supplied by Wales and Iceland carried the tournament a little of the way but a tournament can't exist on a couple of upsets alone.

I'm exaggerating to make a point of course but it needs 2 teams to make a great match and I feel there's just too much focus on counteracting the opposition rather than really going for it.

Game plans, game management, formations and the like are too dominant. All caused by fear of losing which in turn is created by the pressure of big money / big business.

Know what I mean...?
