Don't think I've ever heard a co-commentator get as many things completely wrong as Danny Murphy did the other night.

Clarke Carlisle >> Andy Townsend >> Danny Murphy

Lawrenson did my nut in tonight... constant sarcasm and trying to be funny. I almost turned over to ITV.

Over here in the States ABC chose their #1 broadcast team of Ian Darke and Steve McManaman to do the final game. I get the feeling, listening to their commentary, the two of them get on each other's nerves a bit. :D

If there's one thing the BBC could do to drastically improve it's football coverage even further ahead of ITV's, it would be to transfer Lawrenson to Chile's team.

Or Brazil's.

He'd fit in nicely with balloon head on Talkshite.

All the time in the world for the Darkester, but McManaman is nothing but a thick-as-dinosaur-shit token Scouse presence. Was astonished in an earlier group game when Darke mentioned 199,854 attendance at the Maracana for the 1950 World Cup final and Macca's reply was 'Really?'. Really? Pundit for window-lickers.

I don't care for McManaman either. Darke is great. His call of Donovan's goal against Algeria in the 2010 WC has made him into a bit of a legend among "soccer" fans in the US. He is usually paired with Taylor Twellman for the USMNT games...Twellman is only slightly less useless than McManaman in my book. Nawww, he ain't that bad as an announcer but he does grate on my at times. Twellman is very opinionated about the national team and I often disagree with him, hence the mild dislike...
