They either need to scrap VAR or linos and refs.

Blatant pen missed and the ref needing VAR to give Boateng that second yellow. Seriously, have refs just given up trying now?

Second yellow was nothing to do with VAR, you can't use it for yellows. Assistant referee suggested that the tackle deserved a second yellow card.

Fair enough, just fukking atrocious reffing then. The player slid in from behind, ref gave the free kick immediately but needed someone else to tell him it was yellow. He needs to have a look at himself

Yeah he was shocking. Why he needed anyone to tell him that Boeteng deserved a yellow card is beyond me. I can only put it down to him not wanting to send a German off. It would be bad for business to have Germany go home in the group stages of any of the bigger teams in fact. Look at Neymar on Friday, should have been sent off without doubt but the refs know FIFA want the big, marketable players playing. Makes everyone more money.

Have to say I’m hoping Mexico will get something against Sweden. And that is the game that should be shown live on the telly visual box rather than Germany’s likely comfortable win against an indifferent Korea. Although, IMO, they should switch between the two depending on how things develop.

That said, 1-0 wins for both Germany and Sweden would be hilarious.

Overall though, it’s nice to see that by and large the totally subjective and human error strewn system we had before VAR has remained the same totally subjective and human error strewn system under VAR. Now that’s what I call progress.

I'm happy enough with VAR, people just want to shit on the decision making process

Oh dear. Does that make Hawashima as good as De Gea?

Senegal look worryingly good. England need to avoid them at all costs.

They look ok. A bit lucky to be ahead.

+1

They must get more consistency with the holding in the penalty area, but otherwise it has been a positive innovation.

They'd cause us all sorts of issues with their pace and power imo.

Edit - can't defend for toffee though

Really poor defensively. England would pull them apart. Now 2-2

Would like Poland to knock out Columbia, think the South Americans are the better team.

Loved the Colombia fans going totally hatstand. Superb goal and James, Cuadrado and Quintero are totally bossing it. What a lovely player James is.
