I actually feel quite confident that Southgates team will give a good showing but we all know it will end in tears

When the ref blows the final whistle. Sterling will be the scapegoat.

bobby1413 Quarter final loss to France

Don't think that's possible.

Most likely Germany or Brazil in the Quarters

Quite enjoying the lack of hype and expectation this time.

Don”t mind when it ends.....No doubt it’ll end with some kind’ve (commentators drummed-up) injustice tho’

Will just enjoy it for what it is until that moment

Watched the tv programme Managing England the impossible job
Apart from seeing reminders of all our World Cup failures (and being quite depressing) it also demonstrated to me that goalkeeping mistakes were very high on the list of reasons for previous dismissals.
Bonetti, Shilton, Seaman, Carson, Green all culpable.
Previous managers kept keepers beyond their sell by date or simply made wrong choices.
I don't think anyone argues with Southgate's selections and by not taking Hart i think he has done his best to eliminate this issue.

it was also interesting to hear Capello's views that England always make excuses for failure and he described England’s 1966 World Cup victory as “the ghost smothering you with its white tentacles”.

Yep. We can't play anyone from groups A to D until the semi-finals.

Well judging by the use of VAR and bias refereeing, it's obvious FIFA are doing all they can to get England out.
