CountryRoyal
Ascotexgunner Columbia are definitely beatable and the team will look very different Tuesday.

Definitely. Still a lot harder than Japan but the rewards are much greater.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Brazil (assuming they beat Mexico) knock out Belgium.

If we can’t beat Colombia then there’s no way we would’ve beaten Brazil, anyway.

Well I’m not.

I wanted us to win and play Japan. I watched it on Belgian tv and they are scratching their heads about how poor we were/ lack of urgency. If we were seriously trying to lose to avoid Brazil, that could come back and bite us on the arse.

Even Fellaini looked a world beater today.

Old Man Andrews TAA delivery on set pieces has been Harry Kane levels of bad. Clearly struggling with it so get him off them!

No surprises, once Belgium scored England weren’t really bothered enough to take the game to them and were more than likely happy enough just to see it out.

Rubbish game but it wasn’t what you’d call the first team for England losing so I don’t think any damage is done.

Player wise, Rose was continually rinsed by Januszaj, which takes some doing, so perhaps Young is the better option there after all. Think only Alexander-Arnold came out of it with any credit.

Overall though a good evenings work in terms of where it leaves England in the competition and I think GS and SH would have learned a lot more about the squad and what options they have available than if they’d just gone for a more or less unchanged line up.

Next up an awkward and very capable but beatable Columbia. Let’s hope England can take advantage of the opportunity (and that Brazil don’t lose to Mexico).

Yes.

Currently asking Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn about the merits of Love Island.

Kill it with fire.

Haha, I know this is a very likable squad and manager.......I used to hate England when they had all their "undropable" underperforming stars and rubbish style of play. We had our glory two summers ago.

+1 I hadn't been overly convinced by Young as he always looks to get back on his right foot and wanted to see Rose get a run out. Can see why Young is first choice.

It’s hard to read too much into any of the performances tbh as at the end of the day it was effectively a friendly and it doesn’t matter what anyone says that will have a knock on effect on the players.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I'd rather a natural left footer down that side, and I generally prefer Rose over Young, but he didn't do well enough last night to put pressure on Young.

It's hard to judge any player in the circumstances of last night because it was such a thrown together team playing at less than 100%, unfortunately.

Agreed, and that was my fear when people were suggesting resting of the first XI.

Those players that were chomping at the bit in training to win a place in the side will now know they've blown their chance to make Southgate change his team. How's that going to effect the atmosphere and intensity of training? Hopefully it won't of course, but I have my concerns.

Overall, the result doesn't matter, we didn't risk injury to the majority of the first XI and we've ended up with the supposedly easier half of the draw. It's a great opportunity to write a bit of history and I hope they can kick on from here and play with the verve and spirit they've shown since qualifying.

I personally thought last nights performance was ridiculously arrogant. Since when have we been good enough to throw a game to get an 'easier' side of the draw, we did the same thing 2 years ago and got knocked out to Iceland. Lets just hope weve learnt from our mistakes! That's my disappointment over. ITS COMING HOME
