For those who remember a minor furore when this moved from Preston, the replacement open in Manchester tomorrow. Looking good :

I feel duty bound to visit these things and since my brother-in-law's a Manc, no doubt I'll be up there soon.

Think I'll take a look at this next time I'm in Manc for work.

Football isn't very high up my list of things that belong in a museum tbh.

I'm not ruling anything out, but I can't see a situation where I'd be visiting it any time soon

Reporting back from this, it's pretty well done. There's not as much stuff as there was at Preston - more of a representative sample - but it doesn't suffer from that.

There's a whole lot more interactive stuff, though - quizzes, games, etc so it should easily keep kids entertained. The *real* interactive stuff (penalty shootout, goalkeepers' reaction test, one-two passing game etc) do cost extra, though. Should easily fill a good 2-3 hours, though - and they also have changing exhibitions so worth going back for - currently teh best is "Homes of Football" - Stuart Roy Clarke's pictures of various football grounds and supporters. Worth looking at again even if there's not much new compared to what was shown at Reading Museum in 2003 (?).

Highlight (and most intimidating experience) was playing the "You are the Ref" game (where you get shown a video clip and select the correct option for the ref). While I was deciding my answer someone was looking over my shoulder to see what I was answering, so I turned round to see who ... Howard Webb.
