I've been reading several reports that Joe Kinnear is lined up to take the West Ham hot seat

I don't like how managers reputations are trashed so quickly having previously done a good job.

Moyes did a very decent job at Everton for 10 years. His work at Utd was also no disaster as other managers since have shown.

^Agreed - also I don't think you can criticise his job at Sunderland too much, that squad is rotten at the moment - as evidenced by their current league position... an experienced Championship manager couldn't sort them out this season either.

I agree with you in general terms about reputations-it is more common in our football to trash managers to the extent that they sometimes become almost unemployable (Curbishley?).
In the case of Moyes did he really do such a good job at Everton?
IIRC there were some seasons where they finished in the lower reaches.
Incidentally he also flopped at Real Sociedad so adding them to Man Utd and Sunderland means that he hasn't done very well of late and some might say that he is a bit lucky to get a job in the Premier League.

To be fair, the West Ham fans' issue seems to be less about his management and more about his attitude towards women.

I was commenting more in relation to a suggestion that his track record as a manager was trashed as that wasn't what the West Ham fans were objecting to. I appreciate I didn't make that entirely clear. I actually think he's a good appointment for West Ham.

However, in the light of the sexism row, I do find it an odd appointment for a club that employs a rather high profile woman in a senior executive role.

Yeah, I get ya.

Might be a case of KB deliberately endorsing his appointment to force a point home (as it was all "laughed-off" at the time).....quite what that point might be is totally open to each individuals (mis)interpretation?

I imagine if he tried the same trick with Brady, she'd rip he nuts off and stuff them up his arse and maybe that's the point; you're lucky to be back in the Premiership so keep your gob shut and your nose clean and prove you're still a good manager.

Surely that's just a cover to try and give a bit more credibility to them not wanting him because they're a big club who won the World Cup in '66 and need a big name manager who'll play the West Ham way.

Or, probably more of the case that it's a very small but vocal minority who have commented on the sexism. Your average West Ham won't give a toss about it, IMO.

I don't even know what 'the west ham way' is tbh.

Having delusions of grandeur then walking out after 75 minutes each week?

he was a bit wobbly in the second season finishing 17th

from 06-13th average league position (about) 6th

Liverpool averaged about 5th during the same period

just to give a baseline
