Winston Biscuit yeah, a bit baffled by the academy talk tbh

Quite. After Kane (175) and Winks (58), the active Spurs academy graduate with the most league appearances for them is Kyle Walker-Peters, with 5.

Tbf this is the case pretty much across the board. The only two clubs who can claim genuine academy success in respect of current active players are Southampton and United, and in the case of the latter, their six includes five who are regularly involved (Rashford, Lingard, Pogba, McTominay, Pereira).

Transfermarkt is a terrific database.

Pardon me for being pedantic, but Pogba was released after 3 appearances. His progress was entirely down to Juve, hence the squillions spent on him to go back to Utd.
And Pereira has 12 appearances in 5 years - and looks like going out on loan again

I'll give you the others.

I think Spurs' strength is actually the part that other clubs really find a problem with; the development of young players into the first team squad.

They've had a transfer policy now of buying young talent ( some British, some overseas) and through good coaching they've improved them over time. Ironically (not really (c) Ed Byrne) they've out "Arsenaled" early Wenger Arsenal.

The fact they seem to refuse to spend big means they actually give a decent number of young players a proper chance in the first team. As you say Vision, they must coach and prepare them for it better than most too but it seems to be a by product of not wanting to spaff too much cash on established players.

They've certainly seen a fair amount of young players fail as well though, it's not a foolproof system. Also worth remembering that Kane only got a chance because of a lack of options at the time. He took it, but I'm not sure Spurs were really planning on him sticking around until he did.

I'd also give Everton a bit of credit for producing and blooding some good young players too as it happens.

Not before time. Bad appointment to begin with and that squad should be performing a lot better than they are.

This is Leicester that we're talking about right?

Bit part players in the Prem...loved their one-off under the sacked ex-chelsea manager mind

I've seen a lot of complaints about the style and team selection from supporters. Allegedly the players hate him too.

Brendan Rodgers has left Celtic this morning and should be announced as Leicester manager fairly quickly.

Neil Lennon to take over, at least temporarily, at Celtic.

Wow, strange timing for him to leave. Stay til the summer, win the league and cup and ride off into the sunset.

Why, he's already won everything multiple times up there and no idea when another PL job will come up so completely get why he'd jump now.

Just seems like a situation where all parties involved could wait until the summer to get going. Rodgers must have pushed for it.

Maybe but Leicester will have one eye looking over their shoulder at the teams below them - lose tonight and Soton beat Fulham then the gap to relegation is only 5 points. Now you would say they should have enough to stay up even with a caretaker but if their No. 1 target is available and willing to come now, this would give them that extra boost and once safe, maximise the planning time for next season

Just lol at the idea that Rogers will fit the Leicester preferred playing style.

Not sure Vardy is any good when the ball takes 10 minutes to slowly make its way to him and he then has a bank of defenders in front of him

Can see Vardy going for the reason you mentioned. Rodgers will want a younger model.

Vardy would do great out in the MLS imo. Make a shitload of money and he has a personality which is something that works well out there.
