Got the second book for Christmas and just working my way through it.

There is a decent story about a young lad that joined TSF's club only to be sold on very quickly after only a handful of games to a Premier League rival. Apparently the two teams played each other shortly afterwards and at the end of the game (which TSF's team won with a contentious goal) it all kicked off down the tunnel with the opposition manager screaming 'You sold me a f'ing coke head'.

If only I could put the pieces together...

The second one is "Tales from the Secret Footballer" - it's alright, but not that great. Focuses more on himself and what he plans to do after he retires, still some insightful stuff on the world of football, like the manager who practiced corners with his team by frisbeeing toast at them in the canteen

According to my Oxford-supporting colleague TSF turned up to a league two game in his new Ferrari.

To be fair, he's still turning out for the but apparently has been booked 11 times and sent off once this season.

Was there for that, against Exeter in October. Keith Stroud could have sent him off three times in that game, looked decent for 20 minutes dropping off and pulling strings, then was a peripheral figure throughout. A complete shadow of his time 30 miles down the Thames...

Kits is in my top 3 favourite Reading players of all time.
He was never fast but the best footballing brain.
Even as a shadow of the player he was makes him pretty good 8)

My point was that, despite earning enough to not need to work, he still loves playing so much that he'll do so for a relative pittance.

This serves only to make him more of a legend not less

Just finished the second book and there does seem to be a lot of evidence to point to Kitson including the Greg Halford to Sunderland followed by a screaming match in the tunnel after our 2-1 win over the Mackems in December 2007, a mention for a very thinly disguised Andre Bikey, unpaid players revolting at Portsmouth etc. A few thoughts:

Sort out the third paragraph and you'll have a nice article there.

Interesting bit in the chapter about becoming a director of football where TSF speaks to the DoF at one of his former clubs who, if I'm reading it right, says that in hindsight when they went up to the Premiership, they should have sacked the manager in the summer and employed someone with more appropriate skills to give themselves a chance of staying up.

So not only does Kitson hate Murty, but Hammond thinks Coppell should have gone... after leading us to a points record? :?

Sounds more like he must have talked to Hammond when he watched a home match after Brian had gone

Yes this ^

Coppell got us to 8th place so not sure why it was a mistake not sacking him
