Sanguine - referee blows for a penalty
- VAR official reviews replays and sees a dive
- VAR official communicates with referee, who views the footage
- they agree to reverse the decision and book the attacker.

It should be simple.

Will only work if we get away from all this CONTACT = PEN bollox (we won't).

Unless we set the rules clearly that footy will forever more be a non contact sport. Otherwise pens are still going to be open to interpretation.

Not where the 'clear and obvious error' rule is applied.

Referee gives a penalty - VAR should only overturn the decision where the footage shows no contact, or the player going down before contact is made.
Referee does not give a penalty - VAR should only overturn the decision where the footage shows a clear foul, i.e. not just a 'touch'.

That's the rubbish bit. Endless replays and people banging on about 'contact'

I think it's me. I don't understand why this is so difficult for people to understand. Clear and obvious. A 'touch' or 'contact' will or should not see a decision overturned. People can bang on about it as much as they like, and do already, but if VAR is used strictly and only to overturn decisions with conclusive evidence, people will soon get used to it.

VAR (or the use of it) excels itself again by ruling out a perfectly good Spurs goal

Absolute joke.

This game has been stopped three times already and a legit goal ruled out.

VAR is a joke.

Yup. Too long between decisions as well.

What was the deal with the penalty, btw? Shouldn't it have been retaken?

Cannot believe what I'm watching.

Do you think refs are deliberately making an arse of it so it doesn't get brought in permanently?

I think they are ballsing it up so they do not have to use it. I mean how hard is it really to do. They could have a 15 second decision time limit or something.

Yeah I thought it was a re-take for that kind of thing.

That wouldn't work if you were a ref.

No injuries or anything. Just 5 mins for fart arsing around around.

Do we think VAR takes all responsibility off refs so they over use it ?

Apparently the claim was illegal feinting, but they got the rules the wrong way round

The Goal Prevention System strikes again.

Anyone think that if the defender had pulled Llorente's shirt and Spurs had not scored it would have been reviewed for a penalty ?
No, I thought not

Pretty much irrelevant now anyway.

Well done Rockie for holding a team £millions superior for three quarters of the tie.

It really detracts from the game when all that is talked about is var and how bad it is.
