Am I right in thinking Real Madrid vs PSG will be the most expensive match ever in terms of combined squad value?

Last night just makes the defeat at Swansea all the more perplexing. They are probably on paper one of the weakest teams left in the CL, but I can't see any of their potential quarter-final opponents wanting to draw Liverpool.

Nothing has changed though for them has it. They'll look great against a lot of teams but everyone knows they're fragile if you can get at the defence.

Difficult to argue they haven't improved during the season.

Little stat from last night that perhaps highlights why PSG won't win the CL. Cavani and Neymar didn't exchange a single successful pass in the entire game.

Neymar really should have been sent off anyway for that ridiculous dive.

They combined well for the goal, though. Cavani just dummied instead of touching the ball.

Stroll for Liverpool last night. Quite fitting that toward the end of what might be his final appearance in Europe, Iker Casillas produced a terrific save from a Danny Ings effort to keep it at 0-0.

Got me wondering whether there are many more decorated footballers than Casillas - he captained Spain to the World Cup, and can also list 2 European Championships, 5 domestic league titles, 3 Champions League wins, and 3 World Club Cups.

Obviously domestically Ryan Giggs blows that out of the water, but Giggs doesn't enjoy the international honours of Casillas (or Sergio Ramos, who is 1 La Liga title short of Casillas' honours). Has anyone won more, including internationally, than Casillas? I'm excluding domestic cup competitions.

I guess Pele's 3 World Cup's, 10 Brazilian league titles and 2 Copa Liberatadores runs it close.
Checked Maradona's record and was surprised to see that, World Cup aside, he won just 2 league titles and a UEFA Cup, in his career.

As daft as it sounds, I'm kind of surprised he only won 5 La Liga's!

You'd have to look at some of the Germans over the past, I dunno, 60 years. The ones that played for Munich like Beckenbauer won quite a lot. Other than that maybe Spain's Barcelona players who played with Casillas? Xavi immediately springs to mind, but there may be others..

Patrick Vieira did ok too! But when your trophy room is bigger than most peoples' houses the odd Confederations Cup here and there probably doesn't mean too much between friends.

Xavi and Iniesta both have 8 La Liga's, 4 Champions Leagues, 2 Euro's and the World Cup.

There might be a one or two others I didn't bother looking at.

You have to apply a bit of a co-efficient to who he won the trophies with compared to Casillas. Getting Napoli to win the league and UEFA cup is a pretty decent effort. Plus it gives a chance to post up this lovely half arsed can't be bothered to tie his laces having a dance warm up and who doesn't want to see that

Is it a fan or a Atletico coach that he sparks out with a knee to the head?

I know we're all supposed to hate the hand of god pantomime villan but he was utter skillz. Mental, but utter skillz.

I know I shouldn't but LOL at Spurs......smug Lineker and the f+ckers in the studio were so disrespectful to juve and bigging up spurs. This Juve team has some great players. Had them down for the win tonight.

Always worth a good chuckle
If Ali can’t con the ref with a double pike and Kane can’t score they are pretty average at best.

Still never mind eh! :D :D

It's either a coach or a squad player and, to be fair to Maradona, considering Andoni Goikoetxea made a half decent attempt at ending his career the previous time they played each other and they'd spent the whole of that game kicking lumps out of him, he shows considerable restraint in only going studs up on someone's thigh and a knee to the head.

I like Maradona, he had the ability to carry teams in a way that I don't believe is possible any more.

I have a very clear memory of Maradona juggling the ball in the air a number of times using just his shoulder while about to kick off a match during World Cup 1990. For him it was probably a nothing moment but for some reason really struck me as brilliantly mad and I tried it myself for weeks afterwards in the back garden.

I think that's more than a tad harsh on Spurs.

Most teams will be limited if you nullify two of their key player, especially two of their top scorers. Kane and Alli didn't have the biggest impact on the game last night but Spurs still kept one of the best teams in the world in their pocket for more than an hour and were unfortunate to go out.

How Juve didn't get a penalty in the first half I don't know. Yet again the official behind the goal-line didn't do their job.

Oh I love silly football fans. They lose to Juventus, the current and six-times champions of Italy and CL runners-up twice in the last four years, by an odd goal over 180 minutes, and they are 'pretty average'? And you even throw in an 'if you take out their best player they aren't as good' for good measure.
