Not unrealistic that a team in League 1 will finish on 90+ points and not even get promoted

See Charlton have crept into the playoffs.

Since Karl Robinson left Charlton for Oxford:

Charlton: WWWDL

Oxford: LDLDL

Possible in the championship too, with Fulham on 81 with 12 remaining, and Cardiff on 80 with 15 available.

Highest total I can find for Championship 3rd place is Derby's 85.

We have Cardiff last day of the season...

Almost want it to be a relegation v promotion battle

Wolves promoted after Brentford got a late point at Fulham. Hope it doesn’t affect their remaining performances....

Cardiff back in 2nd

Just looking at the PL run-ins. I don't think Brighton are safe...

Since beating Arsenal, they've lost 4 out of the last 5 (the other being a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield) and their run-in looks like this:

Tottenham (H)
Burnley (A)
Manchester United (H)
Manchester City (A)
Liverpool (A)

The most winnable fixture there being Burnley away, who have won their last five games in a row

they are 7 points clear of the bottom 3.

For Brighton to go down you would be asking for Stoke to get either 3 wins and a loss or 2 wins and 2 draws from their remaining 4 games which are Burnley, Liverpool, Palace, Swansea.

or

Southampton to get 3 wins and 2 losses or 2 wins, a draw and 2 losses from their remaining 5 games which are Leicester, Bournemouth, Swansea, Man City & Everton.

It's unlikely but it can happen, but with Southampton and not Stoke.

Looking a Southampton's fixture list, if they nick a result on Thursday then I think they will fancy themselves to get a couple more results before the end of the season.

I definitely prefer Southampton to BHA (although I do like Chris Hughton)

Pepe the Horseman
Sanguine Southampton are in a bit of bother - 11 games to go, but only four at home, and I think their fate might be sealed in March, where they play Stoke (h), Newcastle (a), Swansea (a), West Ham (a). All six pointers, and after that they have Arsenal, Chelsea and City in their last six games.

They're still 5/1 to go down, which looks very generous.

Didn't back this, of course. :(

Swansea got moved, but they got 1 point (and no goals) from those other games.

I stuck £25 on at 9/2. I'll buy you a beer when it comes in

The 60's was quite a decade for Northampton fans. Started at the bottom, finished off back there again.

1960/61 Div 4 Promoted
1962/63 Div 3 Promoted
1964/65 Div 2 Promoted
1965/66 Div 1 Relegated
1966/67 Div 2 Relegated
1968/69 Div 3 Relegated

Brentford are 1 point outside the play offs with Barnsley & Hull left to play :?

Millwall in 6th play Boro in 5th next week, Millwall then have Villa while Derby have to play Cardiff, Villa and Barnsley.

Reckon Brentford could be a good bet to take the last play off place (can't find any odds on it though)

Barnsley not getting more than a point from their next 2 games would be paradise.
