Making good use of their time then. Changes to the Carabao Cup released today:

- No extra time. Games level at 90mins go straight to pens
- No seeding in early rounds any more but North/South divide in draw remains
- VAR to be used in stadiums where it is available, so PL stadia and Wembley.

ABBA penalty system to be introduced for shoot outs

Also I note that the PL have decided to have a little break in mid February for 2 weeks starting season 2019/2020.

FA Cup round 5 will therefore become midweek event and there will be no replays allowed.

Now doubt it won't be long until the FL follow suit.

Thank god for non league and proper football.

side note - a Spanish friend once laughed at me when I said Balaeric as 'balairic' and told it was pronounced 'bally-aricks'

The PL is not stupid. There is no break but a split weekend. Every team will get a weekend off but there will still be 5 PL games over each of the 2 weekends.

Also clubs in the FL are no longer compelled to produce a match day programme. Will the Royal therefore disappear but for special occasions.....

Never realised they were compelled to. I know print media is pretty passé these days but surely there's still commercial life in the old dog yet.

Excellent. Perfect time to fit in a money spinning friendly in Malaysia.
