Parma win their first game in Serie B. 2 back to back promotions from division 4, impressive especially that they have come out of the notoriously hard Liga Pro (60 teams, 3 winners and 18 team playoff for the next lot to go up..... infact it seems to me that once you get out of the top 2/3 divisions in Spain, Germany, Italy etc it seems pretty much Hard to get back up to where you once where due to the amount of teams and regions you are competing with)

Their captain is a 40 year old Luccarelli..i remember their team of veron, crespo et al..... what a team!

Juve 2-0 down to Genoa after 7 minutes

Serie A should be more interesting this season with Milan spending big and Napoli, Roma, Inter and even Lazio looking stronger.

Marco Borriello scored for his 12th Serie A club at the weekend.

One to look out for this season is 19 year old North Korean Han Kwang-song who is on loan to Perugia.

Apparently he was really talked up since arriving in Italy, made his debut for Perugia at the weekend in their first Serie B match of the season and he scored a hat-trick looking sensational.

Looks like a good start to Serie A. Lazio put 4 past Milan at the weekend and there looks to be a strong chasing pack trying to stop Juventus this year.

Napoli looking genuine title challengers this season. And with a pretty unheralded 30 year old Dries Mertens leading the line.

Dortmund still to concede a goal in the Bundesliga.

Could we see a proper title race in Germany and Italy this season?

Serie A is where I am keeping my eye this season. As previously said, Napoli, Roma, Milan, Inter & Lazio are all stronger than they were and if none of them can topple Juve then there should at least be a good scrap for the CL places.

My wildcard prediction is Lazio to get a CL place.

Neymar & Cavani arguing over who was taking a free kick during the match, Alves takes the ball and gives it to his mate Neymar.

A bit like last week where Neymar & Cavani argued over who was taking a penalty

Would be very welcome if Neymar's leaving saw more Barca performances like last night; great to see more of the role players in the team like Denis Suarez and Paulinho taking some plaudits, even if Messi gets the headlines again.

5 goals in 5 games. Though he is not the divisions top scorer.

Early days obv but SV Sandhausen sit top of the Bundesliga 2. From what I understand they are historically an amateur football club, turning pro 10 years ago and reaching the giddy highs of promotion to the 2nd division 5 years ago

Essentially yes. They played in the Oberliga Baden-Wuttemberg for a long time (which is the 5th level of German football - essentially inter-state leagues) before back to back promotions in the mid Noughties took them into the National Leagues. Were promoted to the 2nd division in 2011-12 and been lower mid-table ever since.

Nearly disappeared completely as when Hoffenheim were trying to grow in the Noughties, there were merger talks between them, Sandhausen and Walldorf to form a new "super club" for the region and name themselves FC Heidelberg 06. Talks broke down as Sandhausen and Walldorf weren't totally sold on the idea and there was an argument about where the stadium should be.

In the end Hoffenheim went it alone, built the new stadium in Sinsheim and the rest is history.

Rare round of midweek Bundesliga games. Dortmund are the early leaders with 4 wins and a draw, comfortable 3-0 win at Hamburg means they are yet to concede.

Hamburg dropping like a stone after winning their first 2 games.

Bayern sit in 2nd with Hoffenheim and newly promoted Hannover in the early mix.

At the bottom Cologne record their worst start to a Bundesliga season with a 5th straight defeat 1-0 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. Cologne qualified for the Europa last year but have lost Anthony Modeste to China - he scored the majority of their goals last year and it shows. Cologne have only scored 2 all season, 1 of those against Arsenal.

Was listening to the latest On The Continent podcast yesterday and their man was raving about Malcom at Bordeaux saying he may well end up being the star of the league this season and going for oddles of money next summer

20 year old Brazilian winger. Here is his injury time goal against Lyon a couple of weeks ago - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSDvvh-z41o

Dybala scored 8 goals in the first 4 league games in Italy. He is some player.

Crazy that Argentina struggle so much with Dybala, Messi and Aguero to call on.
