Lovely scenes in Italy as the player who took over Davide Astori's place in the team, Vitor Hugo, scores the winning goal for Fiorentina.

Ronaldo scored 4 last night meaning he has 21 goals in his last 11 matches. mentz.

Napoli's recent slip ups handed a big advantage to Juventus but they themselves drew 0-0 with SPAL at the weekend meaning Napoli's win took them back to being just 2 points off the top. Sunday 22nd April - Juventus Vs Napoli

And this is what happens when you invest £200m in a single player. My only surprise with Neymar is that he ever passes the ball.

it's a little like when Barca were looking for a new manager and some of the press claimed that Messi was getting involved and demanding who the manager should be. Barca cleared this all up obv by confirming it was just rubbish newspaper talk......before announcing Tata Martino as manager, an Argentine, a personal friend of Messi's and a legendary player and manager at Messi's old club in Rosario.

I'd be getting a tenner on Neymar's Dad to manage a team at some point.

Napoli only manage a draw against Sassuolo meaning Juve go 4 points clear with 8 left to go after they beat AC Milan.

Top 2 due to play each other in 3 weeks time so it could be overturned but in recent weeks Napoli haven't looked like the team they were in the first half of the season

Over here in Germany, Hamburg draw ever nearer to their first ever relegation (only German side never to have been relegated) and they can turn off the smug clock they have in the stadium.

7 points adrift of the relegation play-off spot with just 6 games to go. Would need a massive turnaround as they only have 19 points and no-one has ever survived before with just 19pts from 28 games.

Given they won their first 2 games of the season, they have picked up just 13 points in the past 26 games - truly Readingesque.

My local team Eintracht missed the chance to move back into the CL places with a 2-1 defeat at Bremen. Still in the Europa League spots. Massive game on Sunday as they host 7th place Hoffenheim, who are 3 points behind them with a better GD.

Didn't Hamburg do a great escape in the last few years? Maybe I am mixing them up with someone else

Spanish Segunda looking like there could be a cracking finish

Top 3 all on the same points, 4th place only 2 points behind them. Oviedo in 10th are only 8 points off the top, and Lugo, in the bottom half of the table, are only 4 points off the play offs. mentz.

They've finished in the play-off place a couple of times in the past few years in 2014 and 2015. Escaping once by winning on away goals and then again by scoring the winner in extra time against Karlsruhe.

Last year they avoided the play-off by beating Wolfsburg in the last game with an 88th minute winner. That goal saw them jump over Wolfsburg, pushing them into the play-off instead.

This likely relegation has been coming and most football fans here will be relieved when it does as HSV have been truly awful for a few years now.

Segunda season finishes crazily late each year. Final round of games is 3rd June and the play-offs carry on at the same time as the world cup. Could see some teams lose players to the WC squads during the run in or play-offs.

I'm going on a stag do to Genoa in mid May and we will be aiming to get tickets for the Sampdoria v Napoli game on the final day of the season, so am hoping Napoli will still be going for the title that day.

Sampdoria very much talked up this season for their style of play, apparently a really entertaining and exciting team to watch

Been chatting to a Galatasaray supporting friend and he has explained the situation with Istanbul Basaksehir a bit better.

I knew they were a new club who have hardly any fans but he explained that they are Erdogan's club. His brother in law is the owner, the supporters are brought in by bus from Government & council offices, people who sponsor the team get preferential treatment when applying for government tenders etc. He also said they have been awarded some dubious goals this season including one that clearly didn't go over the line.

Even though his team are top he said he expects Basaksehir to win the league due to them playing each other in a couple of weeks and all the decisions will go the way of Basaksehir in that game along with the remaining games.

he also said there is a belief in Turkey that Arda Turan's transfer to Barca was paid for by the Turkish Government. Says Turan has been an outspoken supporter of Erdogan and the government wanted their star player at the biggest club to help the countries football profile but also to help raise his profile so his political messages reached a wider audience, and they wanted more control over what he said. He now sits on Basaksehir's bench earning €100,000 a week after tax as a thank you.

Erdogan actually played in the opening match at their new stadium, the club then immediately retired the number 12 shirt that he wore in honour
