He's always been a penalty liability in the Prem. They just keep piling up!

And no  because I like the bloke and wish him all the best.

Sonko is the modern day equivalent of Noel Blake...big, solid and uncompromising....for about 90% of the time...the rest of it he spends treading on the ball, heading it in the wroung direction, and recklessly giving away penalties.
Sounds about right.

Sonko involved in all three Blackburn goals.

Penalty, then let Roberts out-muscle him for the second, then Roberts did him to set up the third.

He's always shown this kind of form so it's no real surpise!

royalexile He's always shown this kind of form so it's no real surpise!

only since returning from his knee injury. Prior to that his timing on tackles was excellent.

On the one hand I am sad to see Sonks becoming a shadow of his former self. On the other I am happy we got 2.5 million for him. Nicky Hammond is a genius with transfer negotiations.

Spot on Rev-his pace got him out of trouble so often it more than made up for his lack of skill.
I do get pissed off with these continuing "look how bad they are since they left Reading" topics-last night Sidwell played a big part in another Aston Villa win to give them a real chance of breaking into the big 4 and apparently O'Neill is expecting him to get into double figures for goals next season, implying that he expects him to be a regular.

I was never a great fan of Sonko but he did his main job (defending) for most of his time with us-what I didn't like was the long welly forward but that is now obviously our club policy because Duberry and Ivar do exactly that.
O.k in The Chapionship because most clubs let you have the ball back but ball retention in the Premier League is vital and I would like to see us playing from the back NOW rather than altering our game if and when we get back up.

Good luck to Sonko,Shorey,Sidwell, kitson and Little but not if and when you play against us and thanks for your contributions to our club as without you we might never have had those 2 seasons at the top level.

Typical Sonko

he will always be a clumsy defender, awful challenge yday to give away the penalty and was the begining and Stokes downfall!

Villa away.

His timing has got worse since the injury, but he wasn't Bobby Moore beforehand.

One of Pulis' worst signings. Apart from last week against Fulham, where he was just average, he has been fooking shocking in every other game. His positional sense is woeful, he can't head and when he does he heads towards our goal, he's slow, he makes rash challenges, he has the concentration skills of Titus Bramble, his throws are loopy and easily dealt with and he gets skinned easily. All in all, he's shit.
harsh but funny

Yeah.
In the Championship, he had the pace and strength to easily make up for mistakes.

I didn't feel as confident in the Premiership, but he certainly got worse after the injury.

did he even make a tackle at Villa? As I remember it, it was an introduction to "premiership rules", where brushing past someone's hip as they run beside you and seeing them fly to the floor as if they've tripped over an invisible tree-stump, is a penalty and a red card.

Mate! His foul in that Villa game was nearer to a rugby tackle. He didn't mean it, but it was clumsy and poorly timed.

About as fair a penalty as I saw that season. :|

If you're going to give away a penalty you may as well do it in style........

I don't understand why people are laughing at his misfortune now, we got a healthy amount of money for him and he moved to a club in a better league. I wish Sonko well and will forever remember his excellent form in the 05/06 season.

Does make you wonder what their scouts where watching last season.

How can anyone justify signing Sonko when last season showed he's clearly not up to it?
