Kyle Walker £50M to City (spurs fans seem to believe add ons take it to £60m)

This is the transfer window to end all transfer windows!

If Kyle Walker is worth £50m then you'd have say Hector Bellerin is worth at least £12m.

Chalobah signs for Watford in a five year for a fee in the region of £5m.

I hope there is a buy back clause in the contract. R8 him.

In a window where value for money seems to have completely gone out of the, erm, window.. That is a very good piece of business.

Not a fan to be honest.

Obviously a talented lad, but he's far too inconsistent and looks to me like he just can't be bothered at times (based a lot on his games for Reading when it's quite possible he wasn't that bothered!).

Any ideas what has triggered this ridiculous transfer window? Is it one particular transfer sitting as some sort of price precedent?

Kyle Walker is about to go into the top 20 most expensive players ever. Kyle Walker.
Romelu Lukaku, who divides opinion, is the 5th most expensive player in history.
If Monaco part with Mbappe it will likely be for £100m. Liverpool are apparently happy to pay £70m for Keita and £60m for Van Dijk. Everton are demanding £50m for Gylfi.

Is it China that is causing this?

TV money has gone up, so clubs have more money...

Players are being paid more as a result therefore it costs more to buy out their contract
Selling clubs are under less pressure to sell their best players and demand more

It's all Darren Bents fault. 20-odd million for an absolutely bang average player..... mental.

most expensive defence ever is

Walker
Shaw
Luiz
Stones

and barring Luiz this season its debatable whether any of those can actually defend

£50m for Walker is a dream scenario for Spurs who already have Trippier as the perfect relpacement

Thuram (€41M) would be in there above Shaw, no?

Also, as pointed out previously, David Luiz did not join PSG for £50M as many giddy Chelsea fans wanted to convince people of http://m.ligue1.com/ligue1/article/psg-confirm-david-luiz-move.htm but I have no idea if that still leaves him in the top 4 most expensive defenders

Mangala, Thiago Silva, Mustafi, Otamendi, Bailly & Hummels were also all more expensive defenders than Shaw

Bonucci on his way to Milan for €40M.

Milan's new owners throwing a lot of money around this summer. Would be nice to see them back as one of the true big boys again.

Would have love to have seen him in a Chelsea shirt but his wife wanted to stay in Italy.

I think the point would be that none of those players are left backs.

Sergio Canales, previously hyped up as the future of the Spanish national team, believed to be about to join Atletico Nacional in Colombia.

They are the current Libertadores champions but my European snobbery still says 'that's a real fall from grace for the lad'
