It is Datchet Village FC in the TV Sunday League.

Yes they do have insurance, but it's pretty useless apparently. The club are having a whip round and will do some other fund raising exercises. And yes, with the billions sloshing around the game there should be some way for help to be provided in these circumstances but of course it'll never happen.

- Made the slog round the M25 and up into Suffolk for this. Small town a few miles north of Ipswich. Not a bad layout had a fairly new feel to parts of the ground.
- Chesham were pretty dismal and the hosts did just about enough to progress. ‘Generals’ had a late chance to get back into it with a pen but fluffed it.

NAT
Gateshead 0-1 Aldershot Town - somewhat unpalatable news that the Sh!ts now go top on GD from Dover. Is a very tight league though, with the top 12 in a three point spread – including Magpies in at 5th. Woking on the same points as Maidenhead, are back in 10th.

Leyton Orient 1-2 Hartlepool United
Maidenhead United 2-1 Boreham Wood att 1351
Woking 2-0 Sutton United att 2193

ILP
Worthing 2-2 Staines Town – was rescheduled to Sunday

SLP

Eversley & California 3-2 Kensington Borough
Farleigh Rovers 3-3 Frimley Green
Worcester Park 1-1 FC Deportivo Galicia

HELLP
Ascot United 2-6 Highworth Town - Worthians keeping up the pressure at the top - but score would suggest that this term could be a traumatic one for the rather abject 'Yellamen'.
Brackley Town Saints 3-1 Windsor - didn't see this one coming - after RR's fair summation of the top layer of this division earlier in this thread, I must say however that I was impressed with Saints Reserves, when I saw them last month at home to RWBT - they were (like Windsor) packed with youth and played a fast neat game but on that night were held by older wiser heads, in very wet/slick conditions. Would imagine the styles on show yesterday at St James's would have been rather similar? Windsor took the lead on 22' thanks to an og but were pegged back from about 50' - third goal deep in stoppage time.

Brimscombe & Thrupp 0-2 Bracknell Town -'Robins' stay in touch in 3rd with games in hand-
Fairford Town 1-2 Binfield
Highmoor Ibis 0-3 Royal Wootton Bassett Town
Longlevens 2-1 Burnham
Oxford City Nomads 4-0 Woodley United
Tuffley Rovers 1-2 Flackwell Heath - Heathens stay top
Wantage Town
5-0 Abingdon United - Freds picking up a bit after an uncertain start back at STEP05 - are in 4th place level on points with Thatcham but have played two games more. Probably aided yesterday by United being down to 10 men from about the hour mark - with the score at 2-0. The top five are beginning to open up a gap.
HELL1E
Bicester Town 2-0 Virginia Water - first defeat for VW – home side draw level on points with them at the top
Chinnor 5-0 Henley Town

Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy (Selected Ties)
Amersham Town 2-3 Aston Clinton
Berks County 0-2 Chalvey Sports
Chalfont Wasps 2-1 Grendon Rangers
Cookham Dean 2-1 Holyport
Faringdon Town 2-1 Didcot Town Reserves
Kintbury Rangers H-W Newbury Town – sadly visitors not able to raise a side :(
Langley 0-0 Wokingham & Emmbrook – Langley win 2-0 on pens
Marlow United {SEVEN} 7-1 Stokenchurch
Mortimer 1-2 Letcombe
Reading YMCA 4-1 Shrivenham
Risborough Rangers 0-2 Penn & Tylers Green - good result against higher level opposition
Wraysbury 4-1 Lambourn Sports

WESSP
Alresford Town 1-3 Portland United
Andover Town 5-1 Bashley
WESS1
Alton 2-1 Folland Sports
Christchurch 4-1 Andover New Street
East Cowes Victoria 2-3 Tadley Calleva

I wasn't at the Brackley v Windsor game due to watching The Pineapple Thief instead.... however reports indicate that Windsor were very good for 30 mins then for some reason went into our shells and deservedly lost.

Went to Basingstoke v Gosport Borough last night. A fairly easy 5-0 win for Basingstoke, although three goals in the last 10 or so minutes added extra sheen. Don't recall Gosport having an attempt on goal until a defence mistake by the B'Stoke left back with a few minutes to go forced a really good low-down save out of the keeper.

A few first teamers missing or didn't start, but the younger lads passed the ball well and took their chances. 5 wins in a row in all competitions i think,

How much for adult admission at Basingstoke these days? Are there still issues with ground ownership?

Usually £12 for adults (free to under 16's - which makes it a cheap night out for me and my two lads). It was £6 last night for the cup game.

Not sure about the ground politics - from what I can gather they are going to be ground sharing from next season - either with Farnborough or at the Hampshire FA ground at Winklebury, The chairman is off then too (having not been able to realize his dreams* of a new ground / selling the existing one for housing...) so there is talk of community ownership. With gates of <500 I can see an imminent demise.

Gosport are in absolute pieces as a club. Lost their funding last season and have basically zero budget. Amazing to think they were in the play offs for the NL in May last year.

Another sad example of living off a benefactor with nothing to prop it up. Whitehawk are in a similar state & will follow them into oblivion.

.... and Trophy Runners-Up a couple of seasons before

... some results so far this midweek:

Monday 18th
FA Cup 2Q Replay
Cambridge City 0-2 St Albans

B&B Senior Cup
Beaconsfield Town 1-0 Aylesbury United
Highmoor/Ibis 2-2 Newport Pagnell Town - Away win 4-3 pens

- went along to this - appalling weather - heavens opened as I arrived; eased a bit 2nd half.
- was a good contest and H/I did fairly well against the current UCL Premier leaders, who are 100% in League games.
Highmoor fell behind twice, their 2nd equaliser on 89', only for them to miss twice in the ensuing shoot-out. At least the sparse crowd (about 20-30) were spared ET, as County Competitions have sensibly ditched that and go straight to pens at FT.

Chalfont St Peter 2-3 Windsor

Good confidence restoring win after the poor defeat at Brackley Town Saints in the League on Saturday.

Decent battling performance against higher level opposition, with some great shot stopping from our young keeper Sobte. Still scarily weak on crosses though.

Bit of a dump of a ground though. And £9 entry. Phew!!

With Maidenhead away and Reading probably going to be cr@p the Thatcham v Bracknell game looks a bit tasty.

.... article from FiB (Football in Bracknell) website - covers mainly East Berks incl. Hellenic and below, though with a distinctly 'Robins' emphasis - I believe the Editorial team include the two guys [TC & Duds - see 'About Us' on home page] who were both very heavily involved, on the fringes (if that makes sense! ) of Bracknell Town, until quite recently. Seem to have taken a short step away from former duties at the club to run this site:

http://www.footballinbracknell.co.uk/features/in-depth/30406/where-the-hellenic-premier-division-title-race-could-be-won-and-lost/

... and here's a small item about today's clash at Waterside Park ...

Tony Le Mesmer
BraisingsteakRoyal Went to Basingstoke v Gosport Borough last night.

Gosport never had a benefactor. Spent most of their time in the National League South with some sort of sanction on transfers but managed to bale themselves out with a Trophy run and selling Nathan Ashmore. At least they invested some money in the ground unlike Whitehawk who must still be splashing the cash if Steve King has gone back there.

Hartley Wintney 1-0 AFC Dunstable

A nice day always helps, but I really enjoyed my first visit here. Not the best of games, Dunstable probably best described as 'Robust', but HW stuck at it and got their reward. I thought they looked a very functional side with no obvious weakness. Think they will go very close to the title personally.

A match day programme littered with spelling mistakes always amuses me, but in HW's case they stretched that to getting the name of their own club wrong on the main entrance gate. 'Welcome to Hartley Witney Football Club...in association with Slimmers World"
