Old Man Andrews I have no proof of this but I think there were team selection issues with Tallentire and a big row after the last game of last season which resulted in the split.

Interesting, it certainly seemed to be an odd call at the time seeing that Bracknell had won 9 of their first 10 games of the season before losing at Thatcham in what turned out to be Tallentire's last game.

Having a big row at the end of last season, especially over team selection if I've understood you correctly, would seem equally odd as they won 3 cup finals at the end of that season.

From what I gather (from speaking to the ex juniors Chairman) there was a row after the final game of last season when Bracknell blew their chance to win the league that resulted in the owner and manager no longer being on speaking terms. There was friction throughout the summer over players in or out (TJ Bohane being the biggest problem) and after the Thatcham defeat Tallentire walked.

That is of course second hand information so could be completely wrong but it was from someone who is far closer to the club than I am.

Could it be to do with the numbers that Hereford travel with? They sold their allocation and took 600 to Slough last week.

Good Cup runs can really kill non league teams chasing promotion when coupled with the odd postponement.

Slough will have 7 games in hand of 4 of the 5 teams above them and 4 on the other. They are going to miss out on promotion.

Dipped my toe in the non-league water today
Brackley v Barrow
No goals but very lively attacking football with plenty of incident
Forgot what this was like!!
And no faking injury or diving!

There are a couple of Brackley players who look to me as if they could make it as pros
One maybe too small and one maybe needs to improve fitness
I'm sure you regular non league types would know better but it seems to me there are plenty of decent players out there

Swindon Supermarine 0-5 Bideford

Worth the trip to remind myself just how weird the people of Swindon are. Not very welcoming and a girl of about 9 was taking the money behind the bar. Seriously.

Nice enough ground though. Looks like they’ve done some decent work on it.

My game was a polar opposite to yours then bcubed.

Thatcham 6-0 Royal Wootton Bassett.

Thatcham were superb, 6 goals, a few missed chances and the keeper made a few saves. RWB had a player booked for diving after going past the keeper.
I was really impressed with Thatcham and they’re the best team I’ve seen in Hellenic Prem this season.
This was my first visit to Thatcham and I was really impressed by the whole set up and facilities (ok the toilets were a bit ropey but then I am used to Burnham!). An added bonus was how close it was to the train station.

Are Thatcham up to and prepared for promotion these days?
Seem to remember them voluntarily dropping out of the “competitive” leagues not so long ago.

Glad to hear that they are doing well, must make effort to visit Waterside one day.

I’m not the man to ask whether they’re prepared or not off the pitch. They are however second with a couple of games in hand on first although winning both wouldn’t put them in first. Decent crowd too, I’d estimate ‘about’ 200 I reckon. I never could count though.

Thanx, hopefully they will be able to take that step back up again. Just more concerned that they will not be able to (for the same reasons that they sought their relegation).

Decent enough 3-1 win for Winchester City today v Larkhall. We had a lot of players out injured, so even better,

Should have been more for us - still lacking in incisiveness inside the final third, but a decent enough win.

Crowd of 150 ish compared to 350 when our reserves played Saints U23s on Thursday night, but hey ho.

On that point - what sort of admission prices do local clubs charge? Admission is £8 at Winch normally. Our three biggest attendances this season have been on football for a fiver games , including the Saints game this week. There needs to be a discussion at the club about admission costs. My view is get people in and then get money off them on the 50/50, food, drinks, the bar etc.

Not knocking the info, their ambition, or your input, but I just don't quite see how the no pressure from the chairman quite stacks up with the way Tallentire was treated and especially if it was a fall out over team selection.

Bracknell won 3 cup finals at the end of last season and finished 2nd in the league (to an excellent Thame side from what I saw) having won all but 2 of their last 15/20 games. If a Chairman can fall out with a manager after that run because they didn't win the last league game (against another excellent side in Highworth who sit top of the league this year incidentally) then I'd say there's a reasonable amount of pressure on a manager to perform, and perform how the Chairman thinks too.

I really hope Bracknell manage to get promotion by the way. The town is more than big enough to support a better performing club and it looks like they've got the ambition and organisation to do something about it.
