double d Reading about non league football (conference) league from 2000-01 till now on wiki. Some proper nostalgic teams in there if anybody remembers.

Scarborough (RIPIP)
Hayes
Leigh RMI
Boston
Rushden and Diamonds (RIPIP)
Gravesend and Northfleet
Farnborough (never knew they ever went that high!)
The former Darlington, Telford United, Chester FC and Hereford FCs
Canvey Island (who decided to demote themselves)
Altrincham (who finished bottom two 3 seasons in a row but did not go down due to other clubs financial troubles)

Surprising to see Burton won 9 seasons ago, Crawley and Wimbledon 8 and Fleetwood 6 only and look where they are now. Fair play to them! And Alders#t went to L2..... Forgot about that too!

AFC Rushden and Diamonds (formed just after R and Ds demise) gradually working their way back

My eldest is playing a important U14 catch up game at Larges Lane this evening. Thought it was a nice touch at the time letting them play there on a Friday night under the lights. Then I saw what it clashed with......... :x

...here's the w/e NL fixture list:

Sat 21st April

NAT
Aldershot Town v Barrow
Dagenham & Redbridge v Maidenhead United
Guiseley v Woking - Barrow's win at bottom club Guiseley on Tue, dropped Woking into the relegation slots. The 'Cards' must win both remaining games to have any realistic chance of survival (other match next Sat H v PO chasing Dover) as Barrow have still to play at home to doomed Chester - and away at Bromley midweek.
NATN
Southport v Brackley Town
NATS
Chelmsford City v Havant & Waterlooville
Concord Rangers v Poole Town
Dartford v Bath City
Gloucester City v East Thurrock United
Hemel Hempstead Town v Eastbourne Borough
Hungerford Town v Whitehawk - 4 of the bottom 5 meet this Sat; with only one relegation place yet to be decided.
- 'Crusaders' 4th bottom and safe currently, will not want to slip here, though visitors (and relegated) Whitehawk have shown a meteoric rise in form since the New Year but were far too far adrift, even that early in the season, for it to save them.
The other 2 sides that can be dragged down into that last place (Concord & Poole) meet, with the visitors almost certainly down if they fail to win, as they are currently 5 points behind Hungerford.

Oxford City v Bognor Regis Town
St Albans City v Hampton & Richmond Borough
Truro City v Braintree Town
Wealdstone v Chippenham Town
Welling United v Weston-super-Mare

ILP
Burgess Hill Town v Staines Town
12.30pm Wingate & Finchley v Dorking Wanderers

SLP
Banbury United v Merthyr Town
Dorchester Town v Slough Town
Farnborough
v Chesham United
Stratford Town v Basingstoke Town
SL1E
Ashford Town (Middx) v Hartley Wintney
Aylesbury United v Chalfont St Peter
Barton Rovers v Aylesbury
Beaconsfield Town v Hayes & Yeading United
Bedford Town v AFC Dunstable
Cambridge City v AFC Rushden & Diamonds
Egham Town v Fleet Town
Hanwell Town v Marlow
Northwood v Thame United
Uxbridge v Moneyfields
SL1W
Bishops Cleeve v Swindon Supermarine
Cirencester Town v Kidlington
Salisbury v Didcot Town
Winchester City v North Leigh

CCLP
AFC Hayes v Walton & Hersham
Balham v Camberley Town
Banstead Athletic v Farnham Town - a big away win for Epsom & Ewell midweek saw Farnham sink to bottom place for the first time this season and very probably relegation – re-orgs from above notwithstanding.
There is a feeling that STEP06 leagues may actually be reduced in size for 18-19 to shorten the fixture pile-ups; this may affect the number of sides being relegated from STEP05.

CB Hounslow United v Colliers Wood United
Chertsey Town v Horley Town
Guildford City v Spelthorne Sports
Hanworth Villa v Abbey Rangers
Redhill v Knaphill
Sutton Common Rovers v North Greenford United
Westfield v Bedfont Sports - 1st and Champions host 2nd – Westfield surprisingly lost at home in midweek to Balham who’ve done very well in their first season at STEP05 and only their 2nd in the CCL. Currently groundshare at CWU’s Wibbandune, so not sure if they have plans to progress or develop their own ‘home’ ground.

CCL1
Bagshot v AC London - minor shock midweek when Bagshot bt Cove 2-1 - now only 1 point adrift at the bottom with a game in hand.
Cobham v Ash United
Cove
v FC Deportivo Galicia
Eversley & California v Farleigh Rovers
Kensington Borough v Chessington & Hook United
Raynes Park Vale v Sheerwater
Staines Lammas v Fleet Spurs
Worcester Park v Bedfont & Feltham

HLP
{Friday 20th} Windsor v Bracknell Town - 0-0 as I type 8)
Brimscombe & Thrupp v Flackwell Heath
Burnham
v Oxford City Nomads
Longlevens v Binfield
Lydney Town v Brackley Town Saints
Thatcham Town v Tuffley Rovers – watched Tuffley at Scours last night – nicked a point almost with the last kick of the game against ‘self-destructive-reduced-to-10-men-as usual’ Highmoor/Ibis.
- Any Kingfisher fans; watch out for the ‘ultra’ they’ll possibly have in tow – reminiscent of the 'Little Drummer Boy' in his days following RTFC – this ‘one-man army’ kits himself out in the claret and light blue regalia of his side, complete with two-toned curly wig and Megaphone!!

Woodley United v Ascot United
HL1E
AFC Aldermaston v Wallingford Town AFC
Chalfont Wasps v Wokingham & Emmbrook @ Wokingham's Lowther Rd
Penn & Tylers Green v Sandhurst Town
Thame Rangers
v Bicester Town
HL1W
Cheltenham Saracens v Letcombe
Woodstock Town v Tytherington Rocks – penultimate chance for Rocks to get off the dreaded zero points – can’t see it myself – saw Woodstock up at 2nd placed Shrivenham last Wed night and they looked pretty useful – would have deservedly shared the points but for a dreadful penalty miss deep into injury time.

WESSP
Baffins Milton Rovers v Blackfield & Langley
Petersfield Town v Shaftesbury
Sholing v Andover Town - ATFC's last match and they have a 6 pt lead over B&L. Blackfield have a further three games to fulfill, so the long time leaders may be pipped at the post much like in the Hellenic.

WESS1
Andover New Street v AFC Stoneham - ANS won 5-0 at Totton & E on Tuesday to ensure promotion to Wessex Premier.
- I’ve featured them on here, not just for their location but also for their amazing upturn in form this season; for a side who have been in the bottom four virtually every season they have been competing at STEP06. I do hope they flourish rather than flounder – though precedents for that sort of improvement from One to Premier, continuing in this league, are not good (e.g. Downton, Verwood, Whitchurch) .
- Contrast this with NEW sides into the Wessex from the Hants or Dorset leagues; they regularly roar up to the next level and sustain it.

Christchurch v Downton – even better news for New Street – previous leaders Christchurch, were beaten at home by US Portsmouth, meaning ANS stay top by 1 pt and are now on the same number of games played.

Tadley Calleva v Laverstock & Ford – not sure how many go up this season but Tadley are now in 3rd & three were promoted in 16/17.
United Services Portsmouth v Alton
Whitchurch United
v Totton & Eling

A 61st minute penalty from Seb Bowerman was sufficient to take the points in a 1-0 win for Bracknell at Windsor

Windsor later had Coyne sent off following a straight red rated tackle on Bowerman.

Bracknell now need 2 points from their remaining 3 games to be mathematically certain of 2nd place. Can’t see them making up the goal difference on Thatcham in those games, so unless Thatcham somehow contrive to not win one of their last 2 games the title is off to Waterside Park.

Excellent fixture round up as ever. Be good to have the Isthmian League South included next season as would think that the likes of Corinthian Casuals, Chipstead, Horsham, Walton Casuals and Molesey are all reasonably “local” to the East Berks area and therefore worthy of the odd mention esp. if those in the CC League get shunted over that way.

By the way I take it that under the new league organisation that the Isthmian League will (still) remain a fit for clubs within the M25 as well as those in Essex, Surrey, Kent, the Sussex(es), Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire(?) and Hertfordshire while the Southern League will remain, generally, a fit for everything else classed as the “South” and West

Unless one and/or the other gets a bit “under/over populated” of course.

Really good performance from Windsor tonight, we certainly fared better than I feared might be the case. Bracknell carried more threat but the fact that a team featuring 8 teenagers and no wage budget could restrict a big budget team with many players who have recently been playing at higher levels to just a penalty goal was meritorious.

(I had to get that one out again!)

Didn't fancy Wednesday but would like to see some football this weekend, so I have chosen to go and watch Hungerford secure their conference south status.
For any non league fans/groundhoppers take note of the conference south table, some very big games coming up this week!

Brackley confirmed in 3rd place, at least, in the NLN, which is good news the way the play offs work and means less games.

Salford are champions - wonder if it's all been filmed for TV this season?

That has to go down as one of the worst results football has ever seen. It would be like getting beat 7 to the Derby team of 2008.

Gosport had lost their previous game 0-7 too (also at home), so something quite odd must have happened. Frome are mid-table, so you'd think they'd be considerably better than Gosport.

Both Gosport and Dunstable have -107 GD, so Gosport are ahead on goals scored.

Dunstable have a game in hand, but given that survival could go down to goal difference, and both typically lose every week, that could be a curse rather than a blessing.

Edit: Looking at the Frome site, it seems they are having all sorts of issues with players and the manager leaving, and had to start the game with just 10 players (and obviously no subs).

Dunstable play Frome on the final day.

Final week of the season in the Hellenic Premier and spare a thought for Lydney who have to play 4 games; on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

Can’t help but think that is utterly ridiculous and that there’s no reason that most of those games can’t be played over a couple of weeks at least seeing as there’s no play offs and and games themselves are largely meaningless.

NL Results
Sat 21st April

NAT
Aldershot Town 1-1 Barrow - Sh!ts saved by Rendell leveller on 93’
Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 Maidenhead United
Guiseley 1-2 Woking 85’ winner keeps alive Cards' slim hopes of avoiding the drop
NATN
Southport 0-1 Brackley Town
NATS
Chelmsford City 0-2 Havant & Waterlooville
Concord Rangers 0-1 Poole Town
Dartford 2-0 Bath City
Gloucester City 3-1 East Thurrock United
Hemel Hempstead Town 3-0 Eastbourne Borough
Hungerford Town 0-1 Whitehawk - :( ‘Crusaders’ fall to 85’ winner; Poole’s win at Concord puts them only 2 points behind – both sides have two games left. Concord are 3 points above Hungerford and the two meet on Tue night – whilst Poole host Whitehawk.
- The Final round of games next Sat sees Hungerford trek back to Essex to take on East Thurrock; while Poole play host to Oxford City. Concord, should they not get anything out of the Tue night game will be in some bother should Poole manage a win, as they have to trek to title chasing Havant who can pip Dartford to the title – especially if they (H&W) have beaten East Thurrock by a couple of goals on Wed night.
- Dartford ought to be comfortable winners in their last game as they welcome relegated Bognor.

Oxford City 4-0 Bognor Regis Town
St Albans City 1-3 Hampton & Richmond Borough
Truro City 1-2 Braintree Town
Wealdstone 4-4 Chippenham Town
Welling United 3-1 Weston-super-Mare

ILP
Burgess Hill Town 1-1 Staines Town
Wingate & Finchley 2-0 Dorking Wanderers

SLP
Banbury United 3-3 Merthyr Town
Dorchester Town 0-1 Slough Town
Farnborough 2-0 Chesham United
Hereford 4-1 Kettering Town att 4556
Stratford Town 0-1 Basingstoke Town – ‘stoke grab win in injury time
SL1E
Ashford Town (Middx) 0-1 Hartley Wintney
Aylesbury United 1-2 Chalfont St Peter
Barton Rovers 3-1 Aylesbury
Beaconsfield Town 0-1 Hayes & Yeading United - 'The Rams' fluffed their lines rather here and lost top spot - though HandY are amongst the PO certainties. This defeat actually might yet let Hartley into one of the two automatic spots  - though Beaconsfield do have three games left to AFC R&D's & HW's 2.
Bedford Town 0-2 AFC Dunstable
Cambridge City 0-1 AFC Rushden & Diamonds
Egham Town 3-0 Fleet Town
Hanwell Town 0-0 Marlow
Northwood 1-3 Thame United
Uxbridge 0-0 Moneyfields
SL1W
Bishops Cleeve 0-5 Swindon Supermarine
Cirencester Town 3-2 Kidlington
Salisbury 2-1 Didcot Town - Whites promoted in 2nd spot behind Taunton
Winchester City 2-0 North Leigh

CCLP
AFC Hayes 2-3 Walton & Hersham
Balham 0-2 Camberley Town
Banstead Athletic 3-1 Farnham Town
Chertsey Town 2-0 Horley Town
Guildford City 1-2 Spelthorne Sports
Hanworth Villa 2-1 Abbey Rangers
Redhill 1-0 Knaphill
Sutton Common Rovers 1-0 North Greenford United
Westfield 1-1 Bedfont Sports
CCL1
Bagshot 2-4 AC London
Cobham 5-0 Ash United
Cove
1-0 FC Deportivo Galicia
Eversley & California 2-4 Farleigh Rovers
Kensington Borough 1-4 Chessington & Hook United
Raynes Park Vale 0-0 Sheerwater
Staines Lammas 3-2 Fleet Spurs
Worcester Park 4-2 Bedfont & Feltham

HLP
{Friday 20th} Windsor 0-1 Bracknell Town
Brimscombe & Thrupp 4-4 Flackwell Heath
Burnham 1-0 Oxford City Nomads – rare win for Blues but I suspect their fate is sealed as they have only 2 games left and are three points adrift of Woodley – and cannot reach any of the sides above that.

Longlevens 2-1 Binfield
Lydney Town 1-3 Brackley Town Saints
Thatcham Town 4-1 Tuffley Rovers att 213 – Kingfishers have 1 league game left; H v Brackley Saints next Sat – win that and Bracknell would have needed to win all three of their remaining fixtures and make up a difference of (currently) 16 goals. 'Robins' start their effort at Rivermoor (sorry Scours Lane) vs Woodley on Tue evening - then Lydney on Thursday - finishing at home to Tuffley on Saturday.

Woodley United 0-1 Ascot United
HL1E
AFC Aldermaston 1-1 Wallingford Town AFC
Chalfont Wasps 0-2 Wokingham & Emmbrook @ Wokingham
Penn & Tylers Green 1-4 Sandhurst Town sad end to the season for P&TG who end up 3rd– though Fizzers have improved vastly this term - finished 4th ahead of also improving Holyport and Sumas.
Thame Rangers 2-3 Bicester Town – leaders Bicester have done all they can to win the title – now have to sit back and hope Virginia Water (2 games left 2 points behind) don’t win either of their remaining games. VW could lift the title on Thursday evening at Stag Meadow when they ‘host’ strugglers Aldermaston. They then have another chance at home to Thame Rgrs on Sat – but doubt they’ll need it.

HL1W
Cheltenham Saracens 0-2 Letcombe
Woodstock Town 4-0 Tytherington Rocks – still no points for poor ‘Rocks’ – having seen Woodstack perform well last week at 2nd placed Shrivenham, I half-expected as much.
- they (Rocks) travel to 2nd bottom New College Swindon (on the outside pitch at Supermarine) on Thursday night - will prove to be a draw for us 'Anoraks' of the more ghoulish persuasion :?

WESSP
Baffins Milton Rovers 4-2 Blackfield & Langley
Petersfield Town 2-0 Shaftesbury
Sholing 2-0 Andover Town
- Hi jinx at the top this w/e ; with both contenders suffering rare defeats – Blackfield need to win 2 from 3 to pip Andover, who have completed their fixtures. Blackfield could conceivably pinch the title by Wednesday as they play Fareham tomorrow night and host Hamworthy on Wed.
- At the bottom already relegated Petersfield notched a rare win

WESS1
Andover New Street 0-4 AFC Stoneham - ANS probably over-celebrated promotion last week, allowing Christchurch to get back past them again and lead by 2 points.
- Both sides have their final fixtures scheduled for this Tue and are against lower table sides: – ANS host Whitchurch whilst Christchurch travel to Hythe & Dibden; they would probably be worthy winners as they have only lost 3 league games – New Street have lost 9 but not yet drawn a game!
- It must be top three up at least, as Tadley can still pinch 2nd spot if they win at Fawley on Tue and ANS fail to get a maximum against the Jam Boys.

Christchurch {SIX} 6-0 Downton
Tadley Calleva 2-0 Laverstock & Ford
United Services Portsmouth 1-1 Alton
Whitchurch United
2-0 Totton & Eling
- Division One’s fixtures more or less wrap up this midweek – which is commendable considering how much disruption the weather would have caused in this part of the world. Shows the blazers at the FA that an 18 team STEP06 is feasible if properly run – and the Wessex have just as many County/league and sub-divisional County Cups to play for too - as well as dealing with the vagaries of those 'overseas' clubs they have in their two divisions.

- Headed way up north (well West Mids) for a National North relegation battle.
AFC Telford Utd 3-2 Gainsborough Trinity – hosts fought back from 2 down to seal their own STEP02 survival and condemn their visitors back to STEP03 along with Tamworth and N.Ferriby.
- The ‘Bucks’ play at 'New Bucks Head' – a new build on the site of their previous Stadium; completed in 2003-ish shortly before the old (original) Telford went bust about a year later.
- Decent enough Stadium but probably built for loftier ambition – a bit like Nene Park which did at least see league football before it all went to pot.

Does look like Dartford and Havant could end up with a last day GD shootout. they may even start level on points and GD.

Meanwhile, in the NL North, before the weekend Gainbororugh Trinity had never been either promoted or relegated in their entire 145 year history. They are now relegated to the Northern Premier League.

Tadley Calleva promoted, long overdue and just brilliant news. Few more tweaks to the ground and this club could really push on. Be the Bashley of the 20's.

It's a lovely ground, with room to do a bit more with it too. Quite a success story for the various funding bodies and the way it was pulled together, IIRC.

Presumably that takes then into the Wessex Premier, or is there the potential for them to be moved over to the Hellenic with all the other potential movements this summer?
