Rumour - Lewis Grabban

Bournemouth local rag. Signed a new deal recently but Brighton have matched his release clause.

@neilperrettecho 7m
#afcb Grabban update: The striker remains a Cherries player as talks with Brighton continue. #readingfc now interested as well.#bhafc

Wouldn't mind that.

£1.1m release clause. If indeed we do decide to match that'll presumably mean the takeover is just about sorted.

Liked the look of him so far this season though. Tall, pacey, with an eye for goal - I'd be happy.

Yep, he looks the part. Let's hope this particular story has some substance.

Imagine how much Brighton will hate us if this happens. Quite a lot I should think.

The same reporter said Grabban was close to signing for Brighton today and needed to sign before noon to play at the weekend. Some negotiation still to be done, or talks broke down - perhaps as a result of our interest. For £1.1m he looks great value.

And Bournemouth. We're yet to play them at their place this season..

1 Not allowed!
I need to be careful what I say now, as I had egg on my face yesterday, but I'm prepared to take the abuse as I'm only passing on what I've been told by someone who I trust completely.

As of 7pm last night everything was agreed an in place, medical passed and personal terms agreed, when my source left the Amex it was just a case of press release, photoshoot and the obligatory interviews to be concluded...... But, then I'm lead to believe Grabban was made aware of interest in his services elsewhere by his agent and a decision was made to go away and 'sleep on things' This morning the players agent has been pushing for a longer contract than the initial 2 year deal that BHAFC had put on the table and had been agreed, I'm led to believe 2 other Championship clubs have now expressed an interest both of which have had a fee accepted by Bournemouth and permission to speak with Grabban.

Everything I have been told suggests Grabban was keen to get the deal signed and confirm the contract with BHAFC but his agent decided to up the ante in terms of contract length with the apparent offers coming in from other clubs.

Finally, I must add the last bit of interesting information I was given... Apparently Grabbans agent has sincerely pissed off our chairman with his demand of an extended contract despite initially agreeing a 2 year deal, to the extent where his demands may just have jepodised the entire transfer.

As always, don't shoot the messenger just passing on what I've been told in good faith.

A Brighton 'ITK' from their board. No idea how reliable this is, but I can't really fathom why anyone would go through so much effort just to troll a few internet mongs.

It certainly adds up, but why offer a 2 year deal when you're halfway through a season? Anyway, beating Brighton to him and cheesing off Bournemouth fans at the same time would be lovely.

At £1.1 million do we really need another striker, priority should be in midfield and defence. Our problem is not that our strikers cannot score its that we don't give them enough support. Pog, Aflie and Blackman are all capable of getting goals given the chance..

Why do you assume we aren't looking at other positions? Of course we are!

£1.1m for a striker is peanuts. We have Le Fondre and Pog and no other strikers. Blackman is a winger and is finally starting to thrive out there, and HRK shouldn't be considered a forward either. We are clearly looking at various positions. What order they come in at makes no difference at all.

Grabban caused us plenty of problems. I wouldn't mind him here. QPR are supposed to be the other team interest according to Bournemouth fans.

The Bournemouth fans have turned on him now "money-Grabban bastard" keeps getting touted about. Pretty sure he'll be off somewhere. On the flip-side, the Daily Echo is an absolute abortion of a newspaper that makes the chronicle look balanced and inciteful, i'm not inclined to believe anything printed in it.

Sparta said in the first post that he'd signed a new deal recently. So is this new deal a new, new, deal then?
