Not sure why he's so massively rated by RFC fans. He's very promising, yes, but he's still a bit of a liability - no doubt because of a lack of experience.

His mistake against Hudders the other day highlighted this, as did his performance off the bench against Hull. Don't get me wrong, I think he will be terrific in the future, and I like the guy, but I just don't see the player that many others see on here...

Vision Interesting that he's been used predominantly as a right back at Cheltenham. Wonder if the club see him as a potential full back rather than a centre half especially given that it's probably less than 50/50 that Gunter will be here next season.

I'd guess that it's more a question of what Cheltenham need right now more than a long term development thing.

Hector did much the same during his loans too, and I put it down to mistakes from young full backs are likely to be a bit less costly than young centre halfs.

Dickie's played right back for the U21s before but that was mostly out of necessity (lots of centre backs and no full backs available at the time).

Cooper? Still don't really know what to make of him. His size and strength gives him enormous potential, and his decision making on the ball is great, but I still think he struggles with small, tricky players and he's prone to a lapse in concentration (he's been partially at fault for at least two goals in our last five matches). I think turning down £3.5m+ would be very brave and a huge sign of faith in him. I'd bite their hands off for £5m + an 18 month return loan.

Maybe in five years he'll sign for Man United for £30m and selling for such a small amount would seem silly, but on balance, that seems unlikely.

The world's gone mad. I really like him and rate his prospects but this is the epitome of madness. Nick Hammond is an absolute genius

Stoke fans haven't done their homework, they think he's out of contract in the Summer.

CountryRoyal He seems to have his head on straight and he'd probably turn them down just to play regular football and work on his development.

Though money talks I suppose.

He and Tish went on a tour with Man United as guest players in the Aegon cup about 4 years ago. They were interested in signing him back then and he wanted to develop here so he could play regularly.....

£5m for Cooper
£6.5m for Gylfi.

What?

Mind you, I think the Gylfi fee was all up front (except the sell-on), while I imagine any fee for Cooper would be in installments and based on achievement.

If he does go, then we're suddenly a little short at the back. Until McShane is fit, we'd just have Ferdinand, Hector, and Keown, and one of them looks like breaking down at any second. Sweeney is also injured and Dickie is out on loan, so Hyam is the only youngster who could conceivably step up. Guess you could stick Gunter there and Long at right back.

The other difference between Cooper and Hector is Hector is a London boy who joined us at like 15 or something (and spent almost the entirety of his development with us elsewhere..), Cooper came through at 8 and I don't recall any loans? he probably has more of an attachment to the club...

If we get £5M for him, then with Blackman's transfer too I think Hammond should get the keys to the City (town)
