TBM Hogan's contact still has another season to run after this so its not expiring

Anyway, i have a source close to Brentford who says that an £11m offer has been accepted in principle from a Premier League side

He won't come here

Speaking to a Brentford fan today, Brentford fans are reconciled to him leaving in January but are expecting £10-12M for him!

Hogan sounds like he's holding out for a chance in the Premier League. His words, he doesn't want to be in the Championship long!

Paper talk suggests West Brom are interested, but that could be his agent talking up a move for his client. Brentford to the Prem is a big step, he could perhaps do with a season or so at a better Championship club before testing himself at the top table. I can't see us having the money for him in any case.

Alan Nixon who is normally pretty much spot on reporting it TBF. This could be a game changer and not just for this signing but for in the long run with future signings.

He's good but i'd much rather we spent £9m on 3 players, than just the one

Can't we get Shane Long back for £9m?

All I'll say on Hogan, is don't rule anything out - interest is there. Whether the money is, I guess we'll find out. #readingfc

Going to Villa to replace Gestede, who's going to WBA for £7m (according to the Sun)

As good as Hogan appears to be, I'm not sure I feel comfortable with this much money being thrown around straight away.

Sometimes the papers include wages and bonus' when they make these claims. If that's the case this time then I suppose it's plausible we're in for him at around £5m, £30k p/w wages, promotion bonus, staying up bonus, etc.. But otherwise it's just paper talk. They did the exact same thing with Andre Gray, and he went for a lot less.

Of course we'd like him, but I don't realistically think we'd spend that much money, or he'd be too keen on coming (unless this was part of a bigger - i.e. 25m - investment on players)

9m is probably about right in a world where Matej Vydra costs 8m. Clearly a good player, but the injury record is a worry

If we had the money I think Hogan for £9-million at the moment is a no-brainer. If we don't go up and in the likely event of him playing well for us for the rest of the season we then flog him to a Premiership team and make a nice profit.

Lovely jubbly, everyone's happy.

Or he gets injured, again, and we sell him to Villa for £4m in 18 months' time.

I'm with Leon on this, this guy has injured the same knee twice and has less than 30 games at a level above League Two. Crazy to be talking about £9m as a 'no-brainer'.

Scott Hogan video

by milsj099 » 21 Dec 2016 12:46

With the news that we have bid 9 million for Brentford striker Scott Hogan, I made this video showing all his goals for Brentford this season. Let me know your views on him as a player and our pursuit of him

Thanks.

Torn between thinking a player like Hogan is just what we need / £9 million obliterates anything we've come close to spending before
