Rumour - Scott Hogan

by George_ » 05 Dec 2016 11:55

Reading are eyeing a move for striker Scott Hogan from Championship rivals Brentford when the transfer window reopens next month, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Reading boss Jaap Stam has made striking reinforcements his top priority in the January transfer window and Hogan is understood to figure highly on his wanted list.

Hogan has been in superb form for Brentford this season with 11 goals in 20 appearances to make his second highest scorer in the Championship behind Newcastle United's Dwight Gayle.

If the new owners finance this as their first move I'll be very happy indeed

Only realistic if Mr Hogan is out of contract in the summer as there is no way Reading would pay the silly money price tag Brentford would slap on his head in January.

The rumoured figure last week was £8m to Norwich, I would agree the current set up wouldn't spend £8m on one player, if this Chinese takeover happens, who knows how liberal they will be with their money.

Won't be £8 million, out of contract at the end of the season. we sold Nick Blackman for 2.9 million (Transfermarkt) who had a similar goal scoring record and contract expiring, so cant see it being over £4 million.

Didn't realise his contract was up. A lower price but more people after him then.

if 8 million is being thrown around surely Rhodes would be a better option from Middlesborough

We must have a few mill to spend if this is true.

Hogan would be a quality signing and it's hard to see it happening. If we can't get him in then a cheeky 6 month loan for Rhodes wouldn't be a bad shout ;)

Hogan's contact still has another season to run after this so its not expiring

Anyway, i have a source close to Brentford who says that an £11m offer has been accepted in principle from a Premier League side

He won't come here

As good as he is those are ridiculous amounts of money for a player with his injury record

Given that is the sort of idiot money that Brentford would want (and who can blame them given his worth to the club) then we all know he's never going to be Reading bound and that all this is just probably agents trying to generate interest.

Just goes to show that, if true, how utterly ridiculous clubs in the PL are making that league look thanks to all the mon£y, mon£y, mon£y.
