Adham El Idrissi

by From Despair To Where? » 23 Jan 2017 17:06

Dutch 19 year old right winger from Ajax aparently posting photos of himself at Schippol Airport stating "omw to reading". His Wikipedia page says he's signed for us. Could all be a load of alternative facts.

I know nothing about him.

Most photos of him playing he is wearing Number 9 - with Frank de boer once likening him to Suarez. Apparently.

So perhaps another young striker / RF to boost the ranks.

Although he might just be coming to watch some Total Football at tomorrows match, for the giggles.

Seems to be playing as a striker (no. 9) in this...

Wonder if there's any truth in it though, if there is then I presume he'd be playing in the U21s

In what sense?
Goal-scoring ability or appetite for defenders' flesh?

Based on the Ilori saga, Thursday in which month?

Oh and Wiki says he has been likened to Luis Suarez based on his style of play - wonder if that is for the extra bite he gives to a team's attack?

And The Daily Star are running it as pretty much confimred

Just need a song now... anyone fancy trying Gangnam (Adham) Style

3 years sounds a long time. Presumably Stam will know him well so must rate him highly

No doubt he'll be into the u23's. Possible replacement for Cardwell? He's out at Brighton, has fallen down the pecking order and out of contract this summer so perhaps it's an extended trial?

I am not against us strengthening the youth teams but can we please concentrate more on a left back plus a reliable striker? Thats literally all we need to cement a place in the playoffs. If we can't get someone in permanently due to the financial constraints of the takeover, can we please loan someone from the prem? Way more cost effective. Dominic Solanke from Chelsea is a Reading lad and he had a decent loan spell at Vitesse last season, get someone of that mould. Lets not let this run right to the window and fail again.

I doubt we've made a decision to get a youth player in INSTEAD of a first team striker......

As for a left back being high on the priority list, I have my doubts.

Fair point on the " instead" part, I just meant I hope we are making a big effort to bring someone in and this isn't a " here's a cheaper young winger who can play upfront as well" kind of deal as it wouldn't be the first time ( Mendes).

As for left back, you are probably right. But between Obita and Blackett we are constantly being shit on down that side. It has to be said Obita hasn't come on defensively despite showing early promise in his career and Blackett was always a liability if you read other clubs opinions of him also.

Whether we want to admit it or not left back is also a problem.
