Interesting. 2.5m Swiss Francs offered so £2m.

Only played 14 games for Luzern and scored 3 with 3 assists. Not an amazing record but could change in the right system I guess. 4 in 17 for Roda JC in Holland before that.

20 Caps for Australia.

From my quick research, I think he is first choice striker for his national side. Australia.

One to watch between now & tomorrow night :)

The fact he was playing in Holland while Brian & Jaap were out there probably adds a bit of credence to the rumour.

If Beerens & McCleary are now considered as strikers in our new formation, we do not need a ` quick striker`. We need a back up/alternative target man for Yann. I would be most worried if Yann got injured. Irreplaceable?

Apparently offers a lot defensively so I can see the attraction to Stam.

About as prolific as we could afford. Two of those three he scored on his debut. So he's on a run 1 in 13. Perhaps he's being seen as a replacement for Federici. :D

He does have a bit of height about him at 6 foot 2 and a half though, so he'll bring a fair deal of what Yann offers if his overall game is the same (which would help explain the low strikerate).

Actually think this just the type of striker we need, just need to get him a pair of magic "Billy's Boots" and hopefully his strike rate will improve greatly.

Just one final question - I presume he holds an EU passport (Juric being an eastern European type name ) or will we have problems if Australia aren't a top 50 team ( of course if we were post Brexit then our colonial friends might not be a problem suddenly - and we could get Thulani Serero as well )

Looks like he's a leftie - although he also does score a few with his right foot as well ...

He's Croatian / Australian. His brother was involved in the Croatia international youth setup.

A "co-worker" (or whatever the current PC predilection may be) who is a Croatian Aussie and is anal about footy down under, says:

"A lanky striker with good pace. No Mark Viduka, but can hold his own. The Saudis absolutely hate his guts. His old side Western Sydney Wanders beat a Saudi Club in the Asia Champions League final and Juric scored the winner. Some Saudi player spat in his face. He's been getting solid starts for Australia up front. Plays alongside Cahill well."

Make of that what you will.

Obviously reserve judgement, but hints of a decent longterm potential replacement for Kermie

Im from South West Sydney, and a lot of my buds love the Wanderers.

He was a massive fan favourite there, and from the little I saw from him he looked to have good movement and was a menace to defenders.

But this is A League, so not sure how he would go against champ defenders.

But since he is an Aussie, I am pretty pumped for this

http://mobile.luzernerzeitung.ch/sport/ ... ch-England

Striker Tomi Juric (25) is on the way to the Reading FC for 2.5 million francs. A corresponding offer has arrived at FC Luzern. FC Lucerne has now received an offer for striker Tomi Juric. Reading FC, the third-placed second highest English league, wants to oblige the Australian striker with Croatian roots.

There is obviously a detachment sum of 2.5 million francs in the room. Remo Gaugler, FC Lucerne Sports Coordinator, confirms: "An offer has arrived. Whether it is a change, the player decides in the first place. It is clear, however, that for the FCL the offer would be"lucrative", as Gaugler says.

Tomi Juric is in the summer free of charge from the Dutch club Roda Kerkrade to the FC Lucerne. Juric completed 17 matches in all competitions for FC Luzern and scored four goals.

No qualms with his goal scoring record. I have absolutely every confidence that Stam sees him as an appropriate part of the puzzle and therefore will utilise his strengths successfully.

must have something about him to be Australia's first choice striker.

Sounds like his club will have done very well if they get 2 million for a player they picked up for free 6 months ago.

Would certainly not be against this, though the fee sounds a little high

We need a strong powerful striker to compete with Yann or to provide cover. McCleary or Beerens can provide the pace factor.

Wow, well that makes a lot of sense to me

Just for the record though can anyone actually translate that article accurately into English?
