Championship sides Queens Park Rangers and Reading are both keen on Philadelphia Union midfielder Ronald Alberg, Sport Witness have learned.

The Dutchman, who joined the MLS side in February 2016, has had a very good season for the club, having scored eleven goals, plus adding an assist, during the 2016 season.

Wearing Union’s number 10, Alberg is considered one of the most important players in the squad and his immediate success attracted the interest of clubs from abroad.

Speaking to Sport Witness, Alberg’s agent Justin Stone said: “I can confirm Rizespor interest as well as links to QPR, Reading and Darmstadt.”

Philadelphia Union sports director Earnie Stewart is well known for working on the best deals for the club, and after signing the player from ADO Den Haag for free last year, he certainly won’t sell him on the cheap now.

As the player’s contract with Union runs until 2018, it’s believed Alberg would cost QPR or Reading around US$2m (£1.6m).
