Tommio Telegraph saying we want him and he's available for £1.5m. I'd definitely have him for that price.

Talk Reading (who are generally pretty reliable)

From what I've seen, they post links to articles/tweets about Reading - and those links may or may not be true - but anything they post without a link to an article generally seems to be based on a club source, attributed or otherwise.

But we'll see.

alfie9 This is a good signing imo if the fee is low. Also it would allow Watson to go on loan and play regularly for a season

Agree re Watson. Another season of playing hardly any games will do him no good. A loan to a good Div 1 side and 40 games under his belt and he will be the finished article. Being cover for a player who never misses a game is a bit of a career killer.

Could be a case of "don't oxf*rd advertise it to the world" or it could be Get West London were full of shit and talkReading's "source" confirmed as so.

Like you said, we'll see. I didn't see the point at first but the more I've thought about it the more I think a RB could be useful, if nothing else so we can get Watson some game time.

I did a quick look into Christie's performance and stats last season compared to Gunter's - defensively similar (if not slightly stronger) and considerably stronger going forward.

Christie
- shoots 3x more regularly.
- passing stats are similar to Gunter's (75.7% pass accuracy compared to Gunter's 77.1%) despite not being in a passing team
- makes twice as many "key passes"
- wins more in the air (2.3 per game to Gunter's 0.9)
- tackles more (2 per game compared to G's 1.6),
- is dribbled past a similar amount
- intercepts slightly more
- makes slightly less clearances
- makes twice as many key passes per game
- dribbles 7x more often (so goes forward much more..)
- but is dispossessed 4x more than Gunter
- and his control is a third worse
- he makes about half as many long balls per game as Gunter (with similar %age accuracy) - could that be the style of play?
- his short passing is slightly more accurate

May not even need to be a full season - half a season on loan, then half a season as back up to Christie, while Gunter moves on in January.

The more I think about this move, the more I like it actually. Although I still think, if our fans are watching Christie week-in week-out, a significant portion may find him just as frustrating (albeit for different reasons) as some find Gunter.

I'm starting to think Jake Moore runs the account?

It's fairly obviously that talkReading has a source inside the club, if there is truth in the rumour (which I believe there is) then the backtracking was probably insisted upon or at least he was fed that we weren't.

I'm not the source, but I know the source and he's not signing, simple as that.

He can easily commute from Rillington Place. It's only Notting Hill
