RUMOUR - Jordan Hugill

Probably about as reliable as a chocolate teapot but GR mentions Reading are after Preston forward Jordan Hugill, 25.

Would cost a wedge too - certainly a good deal more than the £1.5m Ipswich offered for him in January.

I think it's a case of bookies seeing Grayson go to Sunderland and thinking he'll try to take Hugill. Wouldnt be surprised to see that happen

According to HITC ( ) ourselves and Sunderland are interested in Hugill.

Birmingham had a 2.5 Million bid Knocked back earlier in the window.

I know we are probably only being linked with him as we need a striker and he is more likely to go to Sunderland but he may be just the ticket for that elusive striker spot.

I was impressed with him up at Deepdale when they hammered us 3-0. He looks a good mixture of old-fashioned rough and tumble and hard work, and clever link up play.

He could be worth a punt.

PNE taken a young Arsenal forward, Stephy Mavididi on loan for the season. Could mean a move for Hugill

Why are Leeds always after the same players as us?

Believe you've had a couple of big bids rejected this week, and were in touch prior to this week too before the game last weekend when he was outstanding.

That's all I know as of yet, not sure if you're looking elsewhere now or ready to come back again.

Reading have had an £8m bid rejected according to the football insider website. Preston do not want to sell so late in the transfer window.

£8m is a hell of a lot for Jordan Hugill. I like the player and think he'd do well in our system. But come on.
I can't remember a season when teams were overvaluing players this much.
I'd rather we just tried to go with Smith and Mendes until JDB and Kermit are fit.

£8m is about the going rate for a striker who can score at this level.

If we manage to sign a striker with experience of this level (and record of scoring) or higher this week we will likely be spending this much, who it is doesn't really matter.

The £200million value for Neymar is the new benchmark rate. All other valuations are formulated from that top price. On that basis £8million for Hugill is good value. He is actually quite cheap. I say we snap him up.
