One87One And supposedly leading the race for Darlow!

Working under Stam is the major plus. Reading as a club are merely a stepping stone

Best we don't sign anyone who's not willing to commit to a career long contract then, but I think we may struggle with that village club ideology in the modern game.

In other words we aren't Barcelona, Real Madrid, City or Chelsea.
Every club in the world bar a tiny handful is a 'stepping stone', it's hardly news or a problem is it ?

Interesting their journo, who seems pretty clued up, is now saying he accepts we have prob contacted them about him at least

That, Farke's unconvincing interview and the Chiron story suggest this may be happening

I think 8 mill would be a steal to be honest. I accept it's a lot of money but this lad is quality from what I've seen.

We could always sell to Derby at a profit even if it didn't work out

Wolves in for Afobe at £8m.

I can't help but think there are better players out there for the same money.

That being said, think Derby paid £8m for Vydra so there you go..

Wasn't Afobe a fairly regular starter for Bournemouth last season and while not prolific he's done well there.

Be surprised if Bournemouth let him go back to Wolves for less than they paid for him (rumoured £10m).

They seem to think very highly of him. Having watched some Youtube highlights he looks like he has it all- he's tall, pretty quick, can poach but also likes to bang one in from the edge of the box with his left peg.

I'm getting more and more excited by this.

He's right footed as well, so looks like he's adept with both feet.

Reading? Is this how far rank bad management has dragged us down in such a short space of time?

Reading?

Now I would more easily accept a bid from the Premier League as being the inevitable direction of football these days and I accepted the sale of Howson for other reasons, but this latest shocker would be a sale too far.

Reading?

Love that thread. Now that the Carrot Crunchers have reminded me, maybe we should also take Naismith. I like him. And who's this Jacob chappy?

I'd love it if this were true but it doesn't seem likely at all.

Either way, it's funny watching Norwich fans lose their sh1t over us.

To be fair I can sympathise with the Norwich fans.
I went though similar agonies when they pinched Andy Hughes off us....

Courtney from the Chron now reporting that a different source described as 'often reliable' has told him it's not happening.

We will not spend £8m in the whole season let alone on 1 player

As said this won't happen - just agent talk to get him either a new deal or a move to the premier league

Certainly sounds like this was agents playing about

I reckon we bid or enquired and it's been spun out of that

Expect Villa to be splashing 12million on him in the next week or so

I'm still strangely optimistic about this going through. Think Norwich are hiding something from their journos to make it seem like they're putting up a fight.
