Rumour - Naki wells

by WoodleyRoyal » 26 Jul 2017 13:17

Source HITC but they have quoted the mirror.

Reading are eyeing a move for Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells, according to The Mirror.

Wells scored 10 goals in 47 appearances last season, which ended with Huddersfield beating Reading to promotion via the Championship play-offs

But the 27-year-old's place looks to be under threat following the arrivals of Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre this summer, and he could be on his way back to the second tier after entering the final year of his Terriers contract.

Reading are desperate for reinforcements in attack, having lost Yann Keromorgant to injury, and are said to have fallen short in their attempts to prise Nelson Oliveira and Tomer Hemed from Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

They will hope to fare better with Wells, however, who has scored 45 goals in 144 appearances at Championship level.

Should he move to Reading, Wells would follow in the footsteps of fellow Bermudan Shaun Goater, who spent two seasons at the Madejski Stadium towards the end of his career, scoring 12 goals in 43 appearances.

Would like to see him come to us, quality player.
We've been interested in him a few times over the years, and had at least one bid rejected.

If it's Wells OR McCormack I'd rather have Wells.

Actually, I'd rather have Joseph Mendes.

or Cedric Baseya.

I'd honestly rather us play Sam Smith or Loader up front than spunk 10 mil on Nakhi Wells

£5m and maybe.

No second tier striker should move to a second tier club for more than £6m. It's insane.

IF and it's a big IF, hypothetically, we have £10 million to spend on a striker I'd be absolutely gutted if it went on Wells.

Much much much better value to be had.

£10m for a player with 10 goals and two assists last season and struggling with a persistent ankle problem? Nah. Smacks of desperation from Stam having realised that his summer sales and loans have left us chronically short of options up front, especially with Kermogant now injured.

Wouldn't judge anybody playing for a team that doesn't try and win a game. Udders will be found out big time in the Prem.

Do you reckon we could get Chris wood for 10 million?

No chance. With the amount of money Leeds are throwing about I don't think they're looking to sell and it would have to be something astronomical for them to accept it. Closer to £20m than £15m.

I very much doubt we'd spend anything like 10 million on him

I don't think there's any substance to this at all. I like Nakhi Wells but 1) he's not worth £10M. As an earlier poster said, if we have big money for a forward then I think there's better options. 2) why would he give up premier league football to come to us.

I'd rather we spend it on Tom Lawrence and on a striker who's cheaper if we have £10M to spend

There is every substance in this. What I know....

Wells now officially out of favour at Huddersfield and although niggle to ankle injury is a reason for absence if he does not go to Austria over weekend he is basically available.

Reading have enquired to his availability and offered £6m up front rising to £10m based on goals, appearances and of course promotion.

Reading are very serious. It's just whether other clubs will jump on board.
