No chance will he come on 50k a week! That will be over double our highest earner now plus he will not be on anything near that at Huddersfield. We are better letting this one draw out towards the deadline, he will not make the Huddersfield 25 man squad and will pick him up for around 4-6 million including add ons. Wages won't top 25k

He'll easily make the 25 man squad ... but he won't be very close to the starting 11.

You may be right about the wage. So we offer 25k a week that reduces the deal by £1.2m = 8.8m.

Good player, always rated him. Not many goals recently though.

BE interesting to see how he does with our style of play.

Oilroyal The headline might read £10m but I would have thought the structure of the deal would be something like this.

4yr contract @ 50k a week £2,400,000 wages
Agents and fees around £1,000,000 (10% of the total package)
Add ons for goals scored and promotion £1,000,000
Players fee £5,600,000

The total deal could add up to £10m

£5.6m for Wells is about the going rate and yes, I do believe to get him to come here it would take a 4yr contract at 50k a week.

£50k a week, are you out of your tiny mind?

Possibly I am… but from the players stand point he’s in the last 12 months of a contract to a prem club. So he either stays put (mostly benched) for the season and then goes on a free next summer collecting a new signing on fee or, a club like Reading offers a big piece of cheese (wages/long contract) to tempt him away to a lower division. His wage offer may not be 50k neither is the £10m fee quoted, but he would be one of the top earners at Reading if this deal holds true. What else would tempt the player to leave Huddersfield this summer?

The opportunity to get played, promoted and retained in first team plans rather than sidelined.

Whatever happens, there is no way we should be paying that sort of ludicrous wage for anyone in the Championship, let alone someone of Wells quality. We aren't QPR FFS.

It's not a rumour, it's a number you pulled out of your tube.

By the look of things need something to happen striker wise before qpr as bodvarsson may have done his ankle - not that he looked particularly impressive for the time he was on v arnhem anyway

Sam Smith looked a much better player but then 45 minutes in a friendly isn't much to judge anyone sufficiently whatever level of experience they have.

So new signing is definitely needed or Reading could be doing the old wingers and attacking midfielder as striking option routine again

I reckon Popa will be starting up front against QPR.

No it doesn't. I think it's quite common knowledge that he was actually on the £85k per week.
