Rumour - Sam McQueen

by Sutekh » 05 Jan 2018 13:29

According to the Express

Leeds United are in a three-way battle with Championship rivals Brentford and Reading to land the 22-year-old on loan, according to The Sun.

A new left-back is expected to be on the agenda for Leeds in this transfer window.
Right-footed Gaetano Berardi continues to occupy the position while Manchester United loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has failed to impress.

Borthwick-Jackson has not featured in a league fixture since his debut against Preston North End in August.

certainly wouldn't say no. Think he is quite rated, and played a fair bit for Southampton

depends where he is most likely to play to be honest. He's not going to move permanently

With Stam's track record of putting round pegs in square holes left back is least likely.

possibly true. Not sure the Reece Oxford saga would have done him a lot of good when it comes to getting people in on loan either

And yet we have Richards

Utterly. Ludicrous.

We have a few positives:

1) Current weakness at left back so good chance for game time
2) Near to where he is currently located.
3) Former top defender as a manager.

And not really anyone else without playing someone out of position. Unless you think Blackett is a LB - he isn't.

I'd take him on loan if it meant Blackett not having to fill in there, or Gunter etc

In an ideal world Id like Richards to play and develop there, but truth is, if McQueen is of a higher standard+experience we can't turn that down in the position we are in.

Can also play left wing/midfield which would be useful

Why is anyone against this? A young, decent LB on loan is exactly what we need. He was trusted enough last season to play in 13 premier league games..

Are there any players on our radar that bloody Leeds don't want as well?

Tyler (god knows how) managed nearly a dozen for Man Utd-who knows anymore. I would agree with other posters about anyone new coming in playing in the position you think they should- aluko, grabban,Blackett, van den berg may all disagree.

Why not give Richards an extended run, everyone seems impressed by him?

Nobody knows. But given there seems to be some sort of contract saying he must have 2 months rest for every senior game he plays, we need an actual LB to supplement him.
