Just a Suggestion: Macauley Bonne

by John Smith » 31 Jan 2018 10:46

I keep a fairly close eye on the Conference and it's quite easy to see this guy is a level above: banging them in for that shower Leyton Orient (15 in 31, Orient have scored 39 goals in total) but above all they are valuable strikes that are keeping them out of the relegation zone.

I know they are three levels below us but Omar Bogle could be a Prem player next season with Cardiff and was playing for Grimsby at this level just three seasons ago.

Bonne's style would suit us as well - he's good in the air and works as a lone striker or in a front two. Much like Doyle or Long who could play the two roles well.

Food for thought...

I’ll see your Macauley Bonne, and raise you an Isaac Success. He’s a very good player already but Watford don’t have room for him at the moment. Love to take him on loan now we seem to have offloaded Beerens and Popa.

Surely not a realistic target. Wouldn't he go to Granada or Udinese or one of the other clubs they own?

I don’t think this would be a terrible suggestion, however, like Bogle, I would expect him to go to a L1/L2 team first before Championship clubs look at him. If, and it’s a big if, we do go down, this would be the kind of player we should be looking at.

He's playing Championship football this season? Not sure what you're saying Seth. I think you might have been a little trigger-happy with your scrutiny there dude!

Nah just referring to your original post. Bogle looked a good prospect but hasn't scored at all since his move up the league's. This guy who may be better than Bogle may also suffer a similar fate.

Isn't that why McNulty was signed?

Why would we sign a striker? We've got four senior ones, two Academy plus two more Academy out on loan. Bodvarsson's on fire, Baldock's doing fine and McNulty has barely had a kick.

Bore off mate. You've lost all of what little respect you ever had on this board. Clueless and not a supporter. Off you go.

John Smith I keep a fairly close eye on the Conference...

Maidenhead starting to get some results. Who are their best players/keep an eye on? Sadly out of touch there, which is shameful, used to be regular, home and away, juggled Urz etc.
