DOYLERSAROYALER
John Smith We've lost our here. Big time.

Agreed...better than what we have up front..which is very little at the moment...

Yes, another injury prone player just what we need.

TBF he has looked pretty decent every time i have seen him play. Maybe his age and his recent injuries put off Clement. Think i read a while ago he was a bit of a trouble maker as well - but most strikers are.

Fair few dodgy rumours from the Netherlands stating Van den Berg is about to join NEC

yeah showing on Talk Reading from some source that he has gone on a season loan which will take him to the end of the contract. No doubts we're being roped into paying some of the wages as well, which was prob inevitable

Ah, actually its the NEC official twitter I think, so we can assume its a done deal

Yeah I expect so, but it was either that or he sits on the bench and we pay him 100% of his wage. The only clubs willing to take him couldn't afford him on a permanent deal.

Yeah its cut our losses time, and he wouldn't even have made it anywhere near our bench this season. Good luck to him and all that, and he did a job in his first season, but am pleased to see the back of him tbh

Me too, he had the odd brilliant performance (Newcastle at home 16/17 he was imperious) but too often looked like a Sunday League footballer. He was never going to get a chance now Meyler's here.

Thank god. Up there with my least favourite Reading players of all time.

know this got mentioned elsewhere, but had a look at Martyn Waghorn's stats. Considering he isn't young, 8 million basically for one 16 goal championship season. The only other goals he has really scored were in the Scottish second tier.

Waghorn is a total middle of the road Championship striker not worth more than about £800k

100%. Would have been exactly the type of player Reading would sign.

Excitingly, the squad numbers have been revealed, with the number 9 shirt left unclaimed 8)

no numbers for Loader, Barrett, Holmes either. Again not that exciting or unexpected

Didn't buy in to the hype about Barrett after his one end of season performance. Just didn't work enough for the team. Not surprised he's had an unimpressive loan and not in the first team squad. Slightly surprised Loader isn't getting more exposure, he's looked way more promising than Smith when I've seen him.

Reckon they are lined up for loans. Of course no issue adding them a squad number later

Anyway on Smith, I rate him. Did you see that little clip of his scissor kick in training? Was nice but featured the most Chris Gunter bit of defending of all time. Reckon you’ll like it

I like the look of Smith as well. Seems to be the sort of character and player that could make it. I’d keep him in the squad or maybe a shortish loan out.

They probably already have numbers but the club have decided not to release every number, guess to highlight just the immediate first team squad. Clement has said he wants to work with a smaller squad, so hardly surprising.
