Royal Rother I would be very interested to see the net outlays of the clubs in our mini-league since the end of last season if anyone has it at their fingertips.
.

Not got thatinfo but the Observer had a list of the 50 biggest spending clubs IN THE WORLD last summer and it included Sunderland at £39 million and Fulham at £25 million. I can;t recall any big sales by Sunderland so that may well be their net figure....

Don't think SC will abandon caution or his policy of going for young and quality in favour of more experienced players (with the exception possibly of a strong central midfielder)

Do think he will use the opportunity to break the mould with a record signing and nudge the wages policy higher if the right player is available.

£10M for me

4 in 5 the I would think

Summer - Lita
January - no one
Summer - Seol
January - Halford
Summer - Fae

Although did Seol actually end up costing more than Lita ? There were add ons which I suspect we may not have had to pay...

I'll be happy just as long as we don't buy Nigel "The Relegator" Quashie.

Fezza
g Ruel Fox for £500,000

Robbie Fowler £5 million
Darren Powell £2 million

but funded by the sale of Nicky Shorey to west ham for £7 million + Hayden Mullins and Bobby Zamora

if that shorey deal were to materialise we would be getting a decent deal!!

No we wouldn't we'd be getting rid of an England international left back (of which there are only three in the country of any use) for a very average midfielder who would add nothing to our squad and an average front man when we already have 4 in the squad who are better than him!

Hoyte is a right back & we already have Murty, Rosenior & DLC.
That would be completely pointless money.

New quality hard tackling centre midfielder, right winger & striker for me pls.

He is also arguably better than what we already have. Would any of the 3 mentioned have been a regular in Arsenal's side last season - and can play CB if needed. DLC won't be here next season and possibly neither will Murty.

I agree with a midfielder and winger but will be surprised if we move for a striker in Jan as it's probably our strongest suit at the moment.

£7 Million is great but not when you have to pay the wages of two players who would (a) demand a lot of money in wages having come from a higher paying club (b) would most likely not even get on the bench (c) wouldn't cover the position of the player sold.

It was tongue in cheek when I first wrote it... nothing has changed.

Have I just woken up from a three month sleep - I thought the ridiculous rumours section was commenced until Boxing Day.

No wait, that was wishful thinking.

If it's commenced until Boxing Day then it makes sense that rumours are appearing now. Do you mean something other than commenced perhaps ?

The more I think about how much will be spent, I am now of the opinion that SC's statement was more of a motivational kick up the arse to the players than anything else.

The problem remains that even though we have money, alot of players simply don't want to come to us. We are not the sort of club who would publically state we are going on a huge spending spree as this would encourage buying clubs to drive up the transfer fees.

Still think there will be some activity, but nowhere near what many on here expect.
