RUMOURS - Mifsud - Watson

by Norfolk Royal » 18 Nov 2007 09:56

Sunday People has us paying £5-million for Mifsud from Coventry while shipping out Lita for £3-million.

News of the World has us paying £1-million for Ben Watson from Crystal Palace.

Both sound plausible, gettable, and good dealing.

Not sure I'd want the 5ft Misfud for Lita (who is worth more than £3m) but watson would be a great signing!

Don't know much about Mifsud but he is scoring goals for Coventry. I wouldn't rate him higher than Lita though.

Watson for £1m would be a scoop.

Norfolk Royal £5-million for Mifsud

Absolutely no chance. £1m maybe, but I wouldn't want him even at that price.

Were we not linked with Mifsud at the beginning of this season/last season?

Behave!

Coventry are desperate for cash and Misfud hasn't done anything close to warrant that sort of fee. He'll be off in January for around £2m. Anything above that is just ridiculas.

Coppell today says that he knew about Mifusd when he was available for free and didn't move then so why would he pay £5m now.

Downes was over in Greece watching the Greece-Malta game but is believed to have been watching Stelios.

I've always quite liked Ben Watson. A pretty similar player to Sidwell but not quite as good. I could definately see that one happening.

Interesting to see that todays Post mentions the Stelios rumour that Stranded pointed out but also that we might be renewing our interest in Eddie Johnson as he'll be available on a free in January.

So Stelios it is then, weren't Liverpool after him a year or so ago? By the way how old is he - he's well into his 30s isn't he?

I read the Eddie Johnson rumour last week in one paper, can't remember which one though. Derby are also intersted apparantly

I'd be loath to let Ben go. He's one of the very few players we have that stops us from hoofing the ball into the clouds. However, if Reading were prepared to give us £1m plus Long or Lita in part exchange, I could just about live with it. Derry ? Please God no. Good player back for us in the past, but I think has been beset with injuries in the last couple of years.

Reading through those posts on the Palace forum suggests that the fans have split oppinions on Watson! also mentions that most do not see him as a box-to-box midfielder which we all agree we have lacked since the departure of Sidders! have always rated Tom Soares though who is also still young at 21 and seems to be more effective going forward than Watson!

Stelios rumour is interesting. He is 33, a sub at Bolton at the moment.

Well if the rumours about him are true, to me it would suggest we are thinking of bringing him in as short term right winger until the summer when we can get some younger quality as these player are very hard to get in January. Whereas i would suggest a 33 year old, sub, is easier to get in and also has prem experience which Coppell often talks about.
